The People Function (formerly HR) is responsible for developing and implementing the Group’s People Strategy and Group-wide People policies, projects and services.

We are currently seeking a Head of People, to join the business in Mauritius. As the Head of People, you will be responsible for supporting the Executive Committee in Mauritius, executing the People plan in Market, and leading a team of HR professionals to achieve operational excellence across all People activities.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic HR advice and guidance to the executive team in Mauritius 
  • Leading a team of HR professionals to support the business and deliver the people agenda
  • Collaborating with regional HR Centres of Excellence to support local business needs in delivery key people objectives
  • Ensuring adequate operational control and risk management principles and strategies are in place
  • Executing relevant HR strategies in line with the global people agenda and respective business strategies while ensuring compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements
  • Understanding the consequences of legal, compliance and governance issues and their associated risks; ensuring they are effectively managed and reflected in HR practices, and oversee major disciplinary, grievance and industrial actions as required
  • Supporting the business in driving engagement by embedding the tools to drive a superior employee experience, support employee engagement, and developing strategies to ensure organisational culture strength, leading and driving culture change

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Solid HR experience and a demonstrable track record in managing HR operations and processes gained through exposure and experience in large corporations preferably from financial services
  • Strong knowledge of local labour law principles and practices and sound experience in managing regulatory constraints, employee and industrial relations
  • Ability to work under pressure in a matrix environment with competing and conflicting demands
  • Project management and/or change management capability
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen and understanding of the business, balancing it with HR priorities/initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, negotiation and communications skills to manage effective stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent people management skills in leading the HR team in the Mauritius
  • University degree or equivalent


Preference will be given to candidates who are Mauritian passport holders or can demonstrate they have the right to work in Mauritius.
