We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of a Lead Java Developer/ Senior Consultant Specialist

 

  • Principal responsibilities
  • Research and identify solutions to software and hardware issues
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including account setup and network configuration
  • Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams (e.g. software developers)
  • Provide prompt and accurate feedback to customers
  • Refer to internal database or external resources to provide accurate tech solutions
  • Ensure all issues are properly logged
  • Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time
  • Follow up with clients to ensure their IT systems are fully functional after troubleshootinDocument technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals
  • Look for areas of improvement in monitoring, application stability.
  • Communicate with line of business and management the overall status and health of the application.
  • Perform trouble shooting, analysis, research and resolution using advanced query and programming skills. Conducts root cause analysis.
  • Be the first point of contact for production issues, support requests and alerts.
  • Ensure issues and outages are properly documented.
  • Proactively monitor application and infrastructure alerts and be able to react quickly.
  • Key part of constant improvement process. Recommending and implementing solutions to mitigate repeat issues and early detection.
  • Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
  • Communicate/escalate issues to appropriate functional areas with supporting evidence from application logs etc.
  • Attend the following Agile Forums and project meetings

-Pod Scrum

-Sprint Planning

-Retrospectives

  • Organise and contribute to pod level discussion forums to help clarify the stories and solutions as and when required
  • Contribute to the definition of and implementation of best practice in all aspects of pod work.
  • Ensure that all technical solutions are ratified by the engineering lead.
  • Ensure that all software conforms to HSBC and project standards.
  • Confirm to all bank and project standards that related to IT development.
Requirements

Must have: 

  • Proven work experience as a Technical Lead Engineer, Senior Consultant Specialist or similar role
  • 10 -15 years of experience in Java 17, J2EE, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, Struts, Hibernate, Microservices, API
  • Good understanding of RDBMS: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL
  • Strong knowledge of ETL (Extraction Transformation and Loading)
  • Unix Shell Scripting
  • Test Strategy - JUnit/JBehave
  • CI/CD pipelines - experience using Jenkins/Ansible
  • Containerization/ Virtualization - experience using Docker.
  • Good markets knowledge across a range of products: FX, Equities, Equity Derivatives, Fixed Income, Futures, Swaps, Energy, Metals.
  • Excellent Front to Back (full) Trade Lifecycle knowledge
  • Practical experience in functional analysis and design, utilizing different methodologies i.e., Use Cases, Business Process Modelling within a Waterfall, or Agile Project environment.
  • Expertise in Agile engineering practices (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, LEAN)
  • Should have worked on JIRA, Confluence for requirement management. Good knowledge of XML is required for mapping / linking data across systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (comfortable in written and verbal communications) to facilitate with users from around the world and from different cultural backgrounds), relationship management and flexible interpersonal skills

Good to have:

  • Have a postgraduate degree in Finance / CFA / FRM
  • Some experience in trade surveillance, regulatory reporting and market abuse
  • Experienced in working with resources in geographically dispersed teams, appreciating and respecting local cultures
  • An appreciation and experience of working on projects that are driven by Regulatory Mandate, and be able to articulate the challenges that such projects often encounter, and the ways in which they’ve been able to achieve success in such areas
