We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Business Manager

Business:  Wealth & personal banking

Principal responsibilities

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Reporting to Head of GPB & W GSC’s
  • Onshore Team Heads who offshored their work to CoEs
  • Central GPB CAO Team

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Lead and drive key GPB CAO initiatives with a future focused approach to our goals and deliverables
  • Create an environment for the delivery of consistent performance, training, career management and succession planning across the CoE capability
  • Provide advice and guidance which enables the Business to manage offshoring initiatives effectively.
  • Foster positive and professional working relationships with others throughout GPB as well as other functions.
  • Set expectations, share best practice and manage, monitor, coach and develop team members to ensure that they maximize their performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience
  • Maintain and develop positive, collaborative and professional working relationships with Business colleagues at Local, Regional and adopt a joined up approach
  • Support and encourage constructive cross-country teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management in action.
  • Membership of relevant GPB Management as well as other related forums.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Provide Business Management support & change delivery initiatives (for instance migration & offshoring) delivered in all areas of responsibility
  • Drive definition and adoption of best practice by collaborating with GPB key business partners.
  • Ensure a consistent application of solutions across GPB entities and ensure there is an appropriate read-across to other entities when issues arise
  • Support the continuing development, implementation and improvement of the processes, capabilities, capacity and infrastructure needed to effectively establish the CoE team.
  • Develop and produce comprehensive MI, in order to create meaningful assessments of team performance in order to provide comfort to onshore Business teams.
  • Ensure timely escalation of all delays/challenges and proactively look for resolution to minimize any negative impact

Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)

  • Place the customer at the center of the GPB business, ensuring fair client outcomes, both personally and as an organization
  • Display and adopt behaviors that form part of the HSBC values and culture and adhering to HSBC risk policies and procedures, including notification and escalation of any concerns and taking required actions.
  • The role holder must be able to work through change in a safe and structured way in order to drive a risk management culture.
  • Track the resolution of subsequent risk management actions as appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations, and procedures that apply to GPB
  • Adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls and will implement the Group compliance policy by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures, including issues raised by external regulators.

Requirements
  • Educated to graduate level (or equivalent level of experience)
  • Significant business management and leadership experience (+6 years)
  • Knowledge of banking business (+8 years of experience with a major global bank or a top tier management consulting firm)
  • Ability to produce high quality excel reports and PowerPoint dashboards and drive the team to do the same
  • Strong interpersonal people’s skills as well as influencing skills at a senior level
  • Experience of migration projects and multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities
  • Experience working on cross-border assignments, large and geographically dispersed projects and project teams
  • Knowledge of GSC environment and offshoring processes
  • Flexible and adaptable nature to conduct a multifaceted role with changing priorities and assignments that are complex, unpredictable and time-sensitive
  • Ability to develop practical, cost effective solutions to complex global issues
  • Proficient in dealing with senior and executive sponsors and prioritizing competing demands on teams’ time
  • Knowledge of private banking business considered as a plus
  • Detailed knowledge of the GPB structure, its business and personnel as a plus
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team, as required
