Risk and Compliance are global functions that incorporate a range of specialist teams, working together to help HSBC navigate a complex regulatory and risk landscape. The Risk and Compliance function aims to embed a sustainable approach to risk and compliance management that supports safe growth and serves customers fairly. The function aspires to continuously raise the bar and set leading standards across the industry to help HSBC safeguard its customers and the communities in which it operates.
This role will support the provision of effective and high-quality risk stewardship support and oversight to the HSBC Australia’s International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) business.
This unique position will enable you to broaden your technical knowledge, utilising your familiarity with a range of banking products and expertise in retail banking regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting IWPB to maintain an effective control framework and ensuring compliance with all relevant external laws & regulations, internal codes and policies, good market practices, and industry standards.
- Providing advisory services to IWPB to ensure clear understanding of regulatory compliance related risks, obligations, requirements and exposure.
- Assessing regulatory changes and developments impacting the IWPB business and providing advisory support for the implementation and delivery of such changes.
- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with key stakeholders locally in Australia, as well as Group and Regional Regulatory Compliance teams offshore.
- Supporting Regulatory Compliance senior management to build and maintain a high performing Regulatory Compliance Function for HSBC Australia.
- Acting in a professional, approachable and supportive manner fostering a cohesive and collegiate team spirit.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of, and experience in retail banking, wealth and / or asset management products and services and associated legal and regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the local external regulatory, political, competitor and market environment.
- Broad and deep product knowledge across banking or extensive cross-functional experience within a large financial institution. Experience within a global institution is an advantage.
- A practical understanding of regulatory technology, demonstrating knowledge of technology development and deployment with an understanding of how this can be used to meet business needs.
- Knowledge and understanding of the management of Regulatory Compliance issues and risks within a complex organisation.
- A results focused self-starter, displaying proactivity, energy and resilience, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Demonstrable experience dealing with and influencing internal and external senior stakeholders.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
