We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join the Global Payments Solutions team based out of Mumbai.

Principal Responsibilities 

 

A Sales Manager for Global Payments Solutions (GPS) at HSBC India is responsible for driving revenue growth by managing a client portfolio and selling a comprehensive range of cash and payments management products. The role requires building strong client relationships, collaborating with internal teams, and staying informed on market and regulatory changes. 

 

GPS India is looking to hire a Senior Sales Manager (individual contributor) based out of Mumbai to join the existing GPS sales team for handling key portfolio of Corporate and Institutional Banking clients (large corporates in MNC and /or local corporate space) and prospects of HSBC. The position would require travel within the city to meet and maintain connect with the clients. There could be a requirement to travel to other parts of the country to cover client’s offices and officials there as required. The role is highly focused towards originating incremental revenues from existing clients as well as identifying and onboarding new to bank clients hence strong sales, relationship and presentation skills would be a prerequisite.

 

Key responsibilities

 

        Business development and sales

o   Act as a trusted advisor to clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate, consultative solutions for cash management and associated working capital requirements.

o   Achieve sales targets, with clear accountability for financial and non-financial targets by developing and executing strategic sales plans in conjunction with relevant stakeholders.

o   Prepare comprehensive account plans for all key accounts and clients in the area with deliverables agreed with relevant stakeholders including relationship and product teams; with regular review of progress against these account plans.

o   Develop a deal pipeline to acquire new clients and grow market share in the transaction business.

o   Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and manage the RFP (Request for Proposal) process to close deals.

        Client and stakeholder management

o   Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, including senior management and treasury departments.

o   Work closely with internal stakeholders across the global HSBC network, such as

Relationship Managers, Product Development, Client Services and Client Implementation teams, to engage directly with clients to meet their daily global payments solutions needs as well as seamless solution delivery; thereby ensuring  outstanding banking experience for HSBC’s key clients across GPS products and solutions.  

o   Gather client feedback and relay it to product teams to help drive new developments and product enhancements. o Serve as an ambassador for the HSBC brand by participating in industry events and promoting the bank's profile.

        Market expertise and risk management o        Stay up-to-date on market trends, competitor activities, economic factors, and regulatory changes affecting international business and payments.

o   Contribute to the pricing, review, and negotiation of cash management services.

o   Ensure compliance with all internal guidelines and external regulations throughout the sales cycle and solution delivery.  

 

 

Role Requirements / Education Qualifications / Certifications / Experience:

 

 

        Desired skills and qualifications

        Experience: Proven sales or relationship management experience in a corporate or transactional banking environment, with a focus on global cash management and payments products. Prior experience of handling large corporates and their requirements in this domain would be preferred. 

        Product knowledge: Extensive knowledge of global payments, treasury, liquidity, and cash management products, techniques, and clearing services.

        Business acumen: A high level of commercial awareness, analytical skills, and the ability to deliver creative and flexible solutions.

        Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and interact confidently at all levels, both internally and externally. Experience in running complex Request for Proposals (RFP) would be advantageous.

        Professional qualifications: Postgraduate, preferably with a MBA with at least 13-15 years of post-qualification experience with proven track record in the domain of cash management. A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., business, finance) is typically required. A Certificate in International Cash Management or other professional treasury certifications are advantageous.

        Mindset: Proactive, team player, results-oriented, and self-motivated with strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.

Additional Information 
  • Mandatory to successfully complete Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions training and post-course assessment, as required.
