Sustainability is an area of fast evolving regulatory expectations in a market which is nascent and rapidly evolving. The successful candidate will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment where requirements and priorities can rapidly change. Being able to provide clarity to key stakeholders and to drive change will be key.
 
We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Sustainability Risk Director.
 
The Europe Sustainability Risk Director will partner with regional and global stakeholders in both CMB and Global Banking (GB) management, working closely with the Regional Heads of CMB and GB Sustainability as well as the Global Head of Wholesale Sustainability Risk. The objective of the role is to drive definition, implementation and monitoring of controls to manage sustainability risk within the region and globally. The role holder will play a leading role in shaping the risk management framework for Sustainability Risk globally across CMB/GB. The role will stand up and create a sustainability risk management team within the Region to support CMB/GB as the business lines roll out and deploy the groups sustainability strategy.
 
What you’re going to do:
 
Shape and drive strategic action to embed sustainability risk and controls both within the region and as leading member of the global team. This will include being global lead on work beyond the region to drive global change 
Focal point for interaction and liaison with Risk & Compliance on new policy development and implementation, both financial and non-financial risk. Work with CMB/GB/WCOO to implement and operationalise the new policies via development into procedures and processes
Set and monitor key risk and control indicators aligned to CMB/GB global sustainability strategy and targets
Lead design and implementation of efficient and effective product, deal and transaction governance processes across the product areas
Provide subject matter expertise and coordination in embedding sustainability considerations into existing risk management frameworks (e.g. climate risk into Risk & Control Assessments)
Ensure holistic consideration of risks and controls through the client and product lifecycle to ensure compliance with policies and goals
Leadership in considering and planning for emerging risks as the agenda develops
Ensure comprehensive and actionable portfolio MI is available on financial risk exposures under the various ESG categories
Drive development and rollout of training and awareness for CMB/GB staff on sustainability risks
