We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Transaction Director – Group Transactions Implementation (GTI).

Role Purpose

The Transaction Director - GTI leads the successful delivery of transactions, including acquisitions and disposals on behalf of GTI and in conjunction with Group M&A, business and delivery partners. Execute the implementation of transactions  by contributing to strategic decisions, operating at an executive level, managing  entity & programme stakeholders, sponsor relationships, and costs/investments within the agreed budget. Monitoring programme development, progress, status and provide aggregated views to the Regional Transaction Lead, ensuring that issues are escalated. Directly support mitigation of issues. The individual in the role is expected to have awareness of the Group strategy and the challenges or risks that the Group faces.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensuring transactions and transaction-related activities within the portfolio are consistent with the HSBC Global Transaction Approach.
  • Undertaking due diligence activity and wider input into the M&A deal cycle (e.g. development of high level integration considerations and timelines).
  • Working with Local, Regional and Group resources to determine approaches to be utilised in each transaction and provide advice and guidance to implementation teams.
  • Developing implementation plans for the Group’s transactions.
  • Defining the structure and governance for each programme plan (which could be multi-country or cross business); review and refine resource requirements.
  • Designing & managing critical programme events (such as joint kick-offs, planning periods, large workshops, pressure-testing, cutover preparation and execution, including Command Centre management).
  • Managing programme resources as appropriate to deliver agreed plans and targets, identifying and implementing improvements and collaborating with colleagues to maximise end to end integration, effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Maintaining a robust and efficient control environment to ensure good operational, financial and project management and compliance with HSBC policy and procedures, together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of the GTI management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels.
  • Exercise initiative in proactively overcoming obstacles to success, escalating where necessary adopting a flexible approach in terms of working hours and travel to other locations.
  • Capture key learnings from each programme and feed these back into the Global Transaction Approach, methods & tools to improve methodologies and share best practice.
  • Drive and take responsibility for decisions consistent with high performance execution of strategy.

  • Build collaboration between global businesses and delivery teams, sharing best practice and ensuring GTI  is recognised within markets and business areas.
  • Support the Regional Transaction Lead in working with the relevant businesses and transformation resource practices to ensure GTI programmes have sufficient resource allocation to ensure safe and successful delivery.

Requirements
  • Ideally a university degree (or equivalent experience). 
  • Programme management experience of complex transactions (such as disposals, acquisitions and closures). 
  • Evidence of developing and using tools, templates and methodologies. 
  • Ability to function in a matrix-management environment, while giving and receiving direction, assigning deliverables and prioritising competing demands. 
  • Exceptional organisational, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Technology conversant - ability to understand, input and review IT materials pertaining to transaction approaches.

The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting. Subject to local laws, this will require the individual to satisfactorily pass a series of additional checks as part of the recruitment process and on an ongoing basis, if appointed to the role.
