The Head of Transaction Risk Management (“TRM”) is a senior leadership role within the US GTS business, leading a team of risk specialists in the management and oversight of the asset exposures associated with solutions deployed for customers. The Head of TRM and the broader function is expected to provide technical advice and support to a diverse range of stakeholders both within and outside of GTS throughout the customer life-cycle with HSBC.

As our US Head of Transaction Risk Management you will:

  • Lead and direct Transaction Risk Management (“TRM”) across US GTS, deputizing for the Head of Product Risk as required
  • Confirm, communicate, monitor and report US GTS risk appetite with critical GTS and non-GTS stakeholders
  • Lead a team of Transaction Risk specialists in monitoring and managing the credit exposures across the US GTS portfolio
  • Provide technical expertise to GTS Sales Managers to assist in the structuring of bespoke customer solutions, typically with a Structured Trade or Commodity Trade Finance nexus
  • Work collaboratively across the GTS and broader Risk function community including Regional & Global GTS Product Risk functions and Wholesale Credit Management to optimize the management and reporting of data and resources
  • Own loan loss provisions on GTS products and ensure provisions and recoveries are accurately reflected
  • Take ownership of in-flight and portfolio risk governance frameworks for GTS exposures, ensuring risk is controlled appropriately and overall risk exposures are appropriately communicated
  • Oversee the production of portfolio risk management reports, articulating the findings and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Develop and implement a strong people strategy in GTS Risk, in line with Global HR requirements, ensuring people are engaged, well managed and supported in an inclusive work environment
  • Provide technical TRM input into appropriate transformation initiatives, supporting change oversight whilst also identifying opportunities for streamlining of process or potential adoption of automation.

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $134,500.00 and $201,800.00

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or an equivalent field
  • Proven experience in credit analysis or similar function
  • Highly commercial with proven financial and analytical capability
  • Strong communication skills, with proven ability to distill complex technical feedback into actionable output across a range of audiences
  • Demonstrable experience managing a team of scale, complexity and across differing time zones
  • Outstanding knowledge of GTS solutions, systems, FIM requirements and pertinent regulations that impact their delivery
  • Demonstrated capability in applying and driving risk and control oversight across a complex, matrix-oriented internal environment
  • Capable of representing GTS US across HSBC and with key external parties, including Regulators and 3rd party Insurance partners
  • Detailed knowledge of the financial services landscape, competitor developments and regulatory trends
  • Ability to use strong judgement to identify and resolve problems whilst maintaining budgets, time scales and quality of output.
