IT Operations manages the IT infrastructure and supporting services that are critical for HSBC employees and customers, such as cost-efficient hardware, system software, middleware and databases, data centres, voice and data networks, ATMs, desktops and other devices.
The area comprises five functions: Client Services, Enterprise Services and Architecture, Data Centre and Service Management, Relationship Management, Project Management and Risk and Administration. Collectively, these areas define and deliver HSBC’s technology strategy to support the Group’s goals.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Vice President, IT Payment Lead.
Principal Responsibilities
In this role you will
- Lead the technology roadmap for payments in Singapore, covering domestic schemes (FAST, GIRO, MEPS+, PayNow) and cross-border payments (SWIFT, ISO 20022) and oversee the design, development, integration, testing, and production support of payment systems and services
- Provide thought leadership on modernization of payments infrastructure, including real-time payments, ISO 20022 migration, and digital channels and management of changes related to local regulatory and clearing house updates
- Serve as the primary technology contact for local payment authorities, such as MAS, ABS, and Banking Computer Services (BCS) and actively represent the bank in industry working groups, consultations, and technical forums relating to payments
- Partner with business, operations, compliance, and global teams to align local execution with group standards and strategy and active engagement with key customers on delivery of banking services relating to payments technology
- Ensure the resilience, availability, and recoverability of payment systems, in line with MAS TRM Guidelines and internal standards and lead incident response and root cause analysis for payment-related outages or near misses
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to ensure security of high-value and high-volume transactions
- Lead a team of developers, analysts, and support staff; manage performance and development and Oversee vendor relationships and ensure effective delivery of outsourced or third-party components
To be successful you will need
- Extensive years of working experiences in IT particularly in in payments technology leadership, ideally in Singapore or Southeast Asia
- Strong domain expertise in domestic payment systems (FAST, GIRO, PayNow, MEPS+), cross-border (SWIFT MT/MX), and ISO 20022 implementation
- Familiarity with Singapore's regulatory and market infrastructure landscape, including MAS TRM and ongoing payment innovation initiatives
- Track record in delivering complex projects involving real-time systems, APIs, or cloud transformation
- Experience managing production-critical systems and ensuring operational excellence
