We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join both the Treasury Regulation, Strategy and Controls team and the Treasury Transformation and Management Office team, as a combined Regional Head for the Americas Region. This regional role will be responsible for the remit of the team in Americas, reporting functionally into the Global Head of Treasury Regulation, Strategy and Controls and into the Regional Treasurer from an entity perspective. This is an exciting opportunity giving the successful candidate a unique role with interaction across all Treasury verticals and Senior Stakeholders.
As our Regional Head of Treasury Regulation, Strategy, Controls, Transformation and Management Office, US & Americas you will:
- Lead cross-Treasury activity within the region to identify and assess strategic and commercial opportunities/ risks in partnership with Capital, Liquidity, Recovery & Resolution Planning, Markets Treasury and other specialist disciplines within Global Treasury as well as broader stakeholders
- Monitor and analyse regional regulatory trends, rules and guidance to proactively identify impacts and implications, and execute a coherent engagement strategy with key regulators
- Provide proactive expert regional insight and analysis including peer analysis and associated commercial insights, external trends and developments, to relevant stakeholders. Proactively identify impacts and implications for the region and work closely with the global team to shape a global view
- Provide oversight of local Treasury governance including ALCO, ensuring that good governance supports Treasury decision making and connectivity within the group
- Ensure the business continues to operate to the highest levels of Operational, Conduct, Governance and Accountability standards
- Act as Delivery Lead for the region within Global Treasury, ensuring robust governance, project management / change disciplines and project artefact production are best-in-class and adhere to the HSBC Change Framework
- Lead change initiation and the design and delivery of solutions (systems and processes) and accountable for successful delivery of programmes and ensuring benefits realisation
- Deliver and execute robust workforce plans (WFPs) for both RTB and CTB teams for Global Treasury, reflecting agreed location strategies and team structures
- Lead on oversight of financial management, recruitment, and location strategy to enhance operational effectiveness
- Manage the business management activities and operational requirements across Capital, IRRBB, Liquidity and RRP including but not limited to continuous improvement initiatives, KPIs & MI, internal communications, cost planning and control, governance, strategy, functional construct/structure, infrastructure across Treasury verticals, meeting specified service standards, delivering agreed outcomes and resolving ad-hoc issues as they arise which may adversely affect the sub-functions
- Influence and manage global/regional stakeholders and senior sponsor relationships in delivering transformation of both business process/systems change and/or new systems implementation as part of Bank and Global Treasury Digital and Innovation strategy
For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $208,700.00 and $313,000.00
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You’ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- Strong understanding and experience of activities undertaken by Treasury, Finance, Risk functions at a major international bank. Deep knowledge in at least one Treasury discipline would be advantageous
- Advanced understanding of regulatory developments and supervisory practices, and how these shape bank strategy, balance sheets and performance. Experience of working at a regulator would be beneficial
- Proven leadership experience and the gravitas and ability to build connections and work collaboratively across boundaries and to provide sound counsel to senior leaders of HSBC
- Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key players in industry and regulators with aim of influencing policy decisions to protects banks interests
- Proven track record of producing papers and materials for presentation to Executives and Board members, with the ability to simplify and communicate complex subjects
- Practical experience of major business transformation with global project management experience. Ideal if jobholder is familiar with Cloud and other innovative technologies and applications
- SME experience of Project delivery methodologies including Agile, Waterfall and other tailored implementation approaches – with industry standard qualifications (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of global and regional/country regulatory landscape and ability to assess the impact of proposed changes in regulatory rules to the bank
- Resourceful, creative, and inquisitive approach to dealing with high levels of complexity and ambiguity. Undaunted by broad remits and changing scope, and able to navigate in these circumstances while operating with limited guidance
