We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President- Operational Resilience, Risk Capability Office.

Principal responsibilities

  • The Wholesale (WSB) Control Office ensures that appropriate controls are implemented and monitored and that WSB operates within the agreed business risk appetite while adhering to all regulatory requirements at all times. The WSB Control Office function provides business risk and control to support BSO’s and their delegates to enable effective and more proactive risk management with their end-to-end IBS.
  • Within the Control Office, the role of the Manager, Operational Resilience Risk is to proactively identify and oversee financial and non-financial risk (NFR) view as related to WSB IBS and promote HSBC’s balanced risk culture through continual assessment of risk in the business.
  • While closely supporting and reporting to Chief Control Officer Wholesale Banking, the job holder is expected to take independent decisions and make recommendations to senior Management.
  • A key responsibility of the role holder is to support ongoing compliance of Resilience Risk Management initiatives across HBEU BSO’s within WSB.
  • With the HSBC Group strategy for Digital Transformation and Digital Channel enhancement, this role will become critical for the future of banking and financial services globally. You will have an opportunity to build on your strong technical foundations, to enhance your risk process understanding, to make you a well-rounded Operational Resilience professional.
  • The role holder is also responsible for working closely with the Regional/Country stakeholders to protect our customer and employee data and assure compliance with Global Regulations.
  • The role holder must be able to effectively operate across a matrix organisation. The role holder will actively engage a wide variety of stakeholders including Global/Country Business Owners, Product Providers, and Risk Stewards to ensure all aspects of the product governance framework are supported and impact on customers and frontline is minimized.
  • Maintain and observe HSBC internal control standards, implement, and observe non-financial risk framework requirements.
Requirements
  • Relevant product knowledge including background of Risk Management.
  • Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. strong exposure to Wholesale business. Knowledge and awareness on Operational Resilience
  • Good understanding of operational risk and controls, preferably gained through experience in front line and risk roles in Commercial Banking.
  • Good understanding of the Operational Risk Framework
  • Knowledge of the changing regulatory environment especially in the financial services sector.
  • Leadership, management and coaching skills
  • Proven problem solving skills with ability to consider alternative and lateral solutions
  • Highly developed communication, presentation and influencing skills set.
  • A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and a solid understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change.
  • Ability to build effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Solid written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences.
