We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as CEO, Hang Seng Insurance Company Limited, reporting to Head of Wealth and Personal Banking of the Bank. 

Principal responsibilities

  • As the Chief Executive of “Hang Seng Insurance Company Limited (HSIC)”, a leading life insurer, retirement ORSO and MPF provider in Hong Kong, and a subsidiary company of Hang Seng Bank (the Bank), the role-holder is responsible for delivering sustainable business growth and cement our leadership position in the Hong Kong market
  • Reporting to Head of Wealth & Personal Banking of the Bank, the role-holder leads a team to innovate, develop and deliver fit-for-purpose insurance solutions for retail and commercial customers 
  • Formulate, implement and drive new and renewal business and customer loyalty strategies so as to achieve high growth on new business as well as grow existing portfolios
  • Lead and collaborate with the Bank’s distribution network and manage brokers channel to provide products and services which answer customer needs.
  • Lead the Bank’s relationships with 3rd party insurance partners for general insurance and medical insurance business
  • Responsible for managing the assets, liabilities, pricing and capital strategies for the HSIC business, delivering long-term returns for customers and the Bank.
  • Control and ensure proper delivery of all functions and services such as Policy Administration, Customer Service and Claims through inhouse support or outsourced providers
  • Set and direct the corporate governance structure of HSIC to monitor, control and compile with all regulatory and internal control requirements.
  • Act as the Chairman / Convenor of the Assets and Labilities Committee (ALCO), Investment Committee, Product Committee and Enterprise Risks Committee of HSIC.
Requirements

Requirements:

  • Extensive management experience in managing a scaled insurance business, channel or function.
  • Fulfill the Fit and Proper requirements of the Insurance Company Ordinance (IO) as the Controller of an insurance company. A registered Insurance
  • Agent, MPF Intermediary and HKSI Advisory Intermediary
  • Industry designations are preferred such as Fellow/Society of Actuary.
  • Experience of product management. Strong technical knowledge of insurance and the HK market/industry for strategy formulation.
  • Demonstrate change leadership and strategic focus with strong growth mindset and passion to champion change and promote innovation.  
  • Highly effective navigation within a matrix environment, advanced governance standard and fast-changing regulatory context with agile ways of working and strong engagement with different levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong customer centricity focus to deliver market-leading products, services, digitalisation and experience to the targeted customers.  
  • Strong track record in orchestrating and leading strategy development, business planning and implementations across multiple business and functional stakeholders to successful completion.
  • Seasoned people leadership to engage, motivate and develop a diverse team; drive strong performance culture with clear aligned direction; build talent pipeline and business bench strength.
  • Strong outcomes focus with adaptability, sound judgement and business insights in decision making, and accountability in delivery.   
  • University degree in Investment, Business Administration, Banking and Finance or related disciplines.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese (including Mandarin).
