We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Credit Risk Manager – Sustainability.

As the Credit Risk Manager – Sustainability, you will be a leader on Climate Risk in HBUK Wholesale Credit Risk Management (WCRM) being a subject matter expert, ensuring successful implementation of evolving policies and meaningful input / delivery of stress tests. 

In this role, you will:

•    Act as subject matter expert on Climate Risks that are relevant to the HSBC UK Bank plc (‘HBUK’) Wholesale book.
•    Support embedding of Climate Risk (Transition & Physical) and Nature Risk into Credit Risk assessments, Credit decisions, and Portfolio Management in line with the PRA Climate Risk expectations.
•    Support Commercial Banking (CMB) in implementing the sustainability agenda. Contribute to the development and delivery of HSBC’s Climate Risk strategy and actively engage CMB colleagues.
•    Review procedures, controls and systems to ensure Climate Risk is fully embedded and implement necessary changes.
•    Be responsible for helping to develop and implement HSBC’s mechanisms to model and to oversee climate risks and actively contribute to regulatory driven / internal climate scenario analysis.
•    As a Risk officer, assist Senior Risk Officer in the assessment of credit proposals.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

•    An interest in and passion for Climate related business; sustainability, transition risk and the social response to achieve future climate targets.
•    Understanding of Climate related risks (transition and physical), with the skill to think strategically and lead the way in WCRM’s approach to Climate Risk.
•    Strong knowledge of analytical concepts, methodologies and models used for stress testing and related regulatory requirements.
•    Knowledge and experience of markets, economics, and corporate finance
•    Proven track record in delivering complex and time sensitive initiatives within a global financial institution.
•    Familiarity with transaction structuring and documentation terms and controls
•    Demonstrate commercial credit skills, not only on a transaction basis but also credit process management.

The base location for this role is Birmingham – Hybrid working.
