We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Sr. Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist
Securities Services Tech is one of the large asset classes within CIB Tech and has teams in London, Canada, Poland, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Pune and Bangalore – supporting businesses covering Banks and Broker Dealers, Fund Admin, Transfer Agency and Digital Data Innovation functions. The organization is rapidly transforming both its people structure and ways of working to better align with our Front Office part of the business and increase the speed and quality of delivery. We have adopted a DevOps model driving agile delivery and building a strong product ownership group. The 2025 change portfolio is nine figures executed by c.1000+ technology professionals globally.
The individual in this role is empowered and accountable to provide hands-on technical expertise to identify and build commercially viable, fit-for-future, and competitive engineering solution. This involves leading the technical delivery of highly complex, business critical, client facing, front-to-back services for the Securities Services business.
The successful candidate will also be responsible to develop and grow the engineering capability of the Custody and Asset Servicing functional team globally and Securities Services Technology team in India horizontally, including the oversight of the engineering team in their technical decision making, outcomes & end-product quality.
In this role, you will:
- Provide positive, hands-on engineering leadership supported by agile delivery and applying the latest technology solutions and architectures from the wider technology community to deliver change with maximum impact.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and technical guidance for a diverse team of engineers.
- Accountable for technology controls that ensure our systems and services are secure, resilient, and sustainable for the long term and managing the balance between time-to-market and stability with an understanding of the risks involved.
- Through collaboration, driving adoption of best practices across the Securities Services organization.
- Driving a culture of experimentation and innovation within the teams, leading by example with proof-of-concepts and fail-fast, and implementing latest technologies, tools, architectures where required in the tech stack.
- Creating an environment which fosters open discussion, challenging constructively and teamwork
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- 15 to 20 years of hands-on relevant experience in developing and implementing software solutions using Java, Microservices, API and 3rd party product integrations. Experience in cloud native (GCP) software development would be an added advantage.
- Experience of working in an Agile environment with a strong focus on engineering practices and tooling.
- Proven ability to improve developer productivity – through automation, reusability and other mechanisms.
- Proven ability to manage large scale applications end to end including the production stability and incident management
- Strong technical leadership skills, teambuilder and influencer
- Exposure and success working within a global matrix organization model.
- Ability to liaise with other engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to understand and drive the platform, product or service’s direction.
- Ability to oversee technical relationships with key 3rd party vendors including software providers and extended workforce providers
- Gravitas and ability to interact with and advise senior executives.
- Ability to understand business issues and connecting the dots between issues. Compare and contrast different technical solutions and recommend/deliver the most optimal ones to meet business requirements.
- Ability to work within an ambiguous environment, prioritize and reconcile competing demands and resolve complex issues.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain business partnerships and client relationships
- Drive developer productivity, monitor and improve DORA metrics for the group

Sector functional requirements: Custody and Asset Servicing:
- Significant experience in the Custody and/or Asset Servicing domain, preferable on TCS BaNCS or similar vendor products.
- Preferably experience of Securities Services, Custody or Securities Operations Technology in a Bank.
- Proven implementation of Client journey and design thinking
- Used to translate stakeholder aspiration into technical design.
- Familiarity with Financial Markets and related asset classes will be an advantage.
- Comprehensive understanding and awareness of appropriate corporate and regulatory policies
Sector Technical Requirements:
- Proficient with Java, Microservices, API and Cloud native software development involving 3rd party vendor applications
- Proficient with Postgres or Oracle or any of the databases
- Proven track record with DevSecOps
- Proven hands-on experience in building enterprise-wide resilient applications
Sector nice to have:
- Experience with large scale data architecture, across multiple or hybrid Cloud platform
- Good to have understanding of Front-End development (REACT Or Angular)
- Familiar with Big Data, Data Lake, Data Mesh and Data Warehousing solutions
