We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Director, Digital Assets and Currencies Policies and Governance.
Job Profile
Lead and manage product policies and governance for digital asset and currency (DACs) initiaitves, working across HSBC. Includes polices and governance for DACs strategy, products, services, governance and other deliverables. This role plays a pivotal part in safely implementing our business and product strategy around Digital Assets and Currencies. Reports into the Group Head of Digital Assets and Currencies.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Work with colleagues across HSBC to define and document policies and governance for DACs strategy, projects and deliverables
- Work to ensure that HSBC understands relevant DACs industry and policy developments in this segment, contributes to shaping them, and is seen as a thought leader for the development for DACs
- Ensure that any DACs products abide by internal (policy) and external (regulatory) obligations, and work with the second line of defence (2LoD) to actively shape HSBC’s DACs policies and procedures
- Working closely with the respective business teams to successfully ensure policies and governance
- Work with colleagues and teams across businesses, technology and digital functions to further our DACs agenda
- Excellent understanding and management of DACs risks
- Strong focus on regulation and government affairs, including translating these two impacts on our current and potential products and strategy
- Continuously conduct research on digital assets products and new features, identify potential trends, updates, or changes in the sector, and keep teams informed about these changes and potential application scenarios within our services
- Externally represent HSBC in front of regulators and government officials
Key Requirements & Qualifications (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)
- Proven experience in regulated digital assets, with a track record of successful involvement in the subject
- Strong knowledge of and interest in the subject
- Preferably possessing strong knowledge of digital assets, along with how it may apply to a banking context
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to drive teams towards policy and governance goals
- Excellent awareness of risks and risk management
- Strong and effective relationships with stakeholders which includes senior leadership
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strategic thinking capabilities in ambiguity and can “figure things out”
- Attention to detail, organised yet comfortable with ambiguity, with a flexible mindset to work under a fast-paced business and market environment
- Resourceful and results-oriented, open to find a way to get things done without sacrificing quality and integrity. No task is off limits
- Having a strong growth mindset and operate with an open mind, constantly thinking about how things can improve
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role – not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role)
- Scrappy get-it-done mindset with a hunger to tackle complicated and impactful business problems
- Knowledge of market trends, new technologies and Fintech products
- Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, and logical structuring abilities
- Ability to work with international teams across multiple time zones and continents
- Comfort with ambiguity; the ability to independently lay out and test clear hypotheses, and solve problems without well-defined direction
- Demonstrated experience in working with senior executives in matrix organization, delivering performance improvement and quality results
- Strong financial management and business management advisory skills
- Customer-focused with ability to pay attention to details and ensure tasks are completed on time at required levels of quality especially when under pressure and tight deadlines
- Advanced level of documentation skills through MS Excel, PowerPoint or other software
- Understanding of HSBC Value and HSBC Group systems - GPDM, TM1, Clarity, GMIS, Pioneer & Employee Central is a plus
