This team is the backbone of our Global Markets business (one of the largest of its kind in the world) and combines sophisticated 24-hour global coverage with a detailed knowledge of local markets and specialises in foreign exchange, credits and rates, structured derivatives, equities and debt, equity and equity-linked capital markets.
Markets Operations is responsible for driving every part of the trade lifecycle post-execution. This team manages settlement activity, risk and control, adherence to regulatory compliance, and seamless operational client service across 58 countries and territories.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Fund Accounting Manager.
Principal Responsibilities
Job Purpose
The asset servicing function is a cross-LOB utility within Markets and Securities Services operations- the utility is responsible for processing all global corporate actions across the event lifecycle for Income, Mandatory, Mandatory with Options and Voluntary events.
The key responsibilities of the Asset Servicing Middle Office Manager in Hong Kong will be to support the governance and oversight of global event processing. By working closely with our global service centres, the role will ensure all operational policies, procedures and activities are adhered to in-order to deliver a timely and accurate service that meets our client’s expectations.
In this role you will
- Contribute and support to the strategic direction of the overall department. Oversee HSBC Global Custody or Third-Party Custodian operations from Fund Admin perspective
- Work with a team of processors and checkers who are handling a high level of complex processes. Troubleshoot, problem solve, and solution issues raised
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of processing and reporting deliverables. Strong risk management mindset
- Support ad-hoc projects as assigned and ensure smooth implementation
- Contribute to business decisions based on established procedures and escalate when needed
- Participate in user acceptance testing including test case preparation
- Manage queries in a timely manner and followed through to a satisfactory resolution
- Review existing processes and identify areas of improvement. Support initiatives to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Support launch of new products as requested by client. Assist in coaching and training
To be successful you will need
- Relevant experience in a management role of Custody/Funds Administration Function, with a deep understanding of the custody and funds administration product/services
- Project management experience with a proven track record to think strategically and support operational efficiencies across a large network of stakeholders
- Experience of managing issues and identifying root causes with a mitigation plan is essential
- Ability to assimilate complex information quickly in an increasingly changing business environment
- Incorporate the latest market changes into processing methods and to translate any gaps into functional business requirements for future development
- Work with SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to integrate change across direct custody, global custody and funds asset servicing as well as the wider operations to deliver the business strategy
- Ability to plan and organize workload to meet deadlines, manage priorities and deliver against tight organizational deadlines
System knowledge of core MSS platforms and operating systems such as Multifonds / IMS (Fund Admin), XSP (Middle Office Corporate Actions), TLM, GHSS would be an advantage. Knowledge of Blackrock’s Aladdin platform would be an additional advantage - Able to work on public holidays and in night shifts if needed to provide BAU support
