The department handles UK banking services. It oversees account opening, maintenance, and closures. Additionally, it collaborates with various stakeholders to implement and maintain controls, enhancing customer journeys and streamlining processes without compromising risk mitigation. 

The Opportunity: (Brief Overview of the Role)

The role holder is responsible for working with offshore operations to identify weaknesses in controls and creating plans for timely resolution for UK processes. 

The role holder is responsible for being up to date with FIM management and associated control frameworks and BAU Risk Management in the domain.

The role will consequently drive:
  • Effective management of risk.
  • Delivery of service and risk mitigation to agreed levels of performance.
  • Promoting the Speak Up Culture within the overall team
What you’ll do: (List out Key Responsibilities)

Impact on the Business/Function

Implementing and maintaining global operating standards, particularly in risk and control environment.
Support the implementation of best-in-class customer services standards in line with Global WPB requirements, whilst ensuring at all times that operational risks are effectively managed.
Support operations in reviewing strategic initiatives including assessing and managing the direct impact on operations and teams.
Ensuring that Account Services teams are operating in line with the appropriate global standards for financial crime, Group Risk Management framework and applicable FIM’s & Operating Policies. This includes Frist Line of Defence (LoD), 2LoD and 3LoD reviews and audits, the management of Issue, Actions and Internal Events, and outsourced service management.

  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers.
  • Effective engagement with multiple local stakeholders to drive the relevant business outcomes.
  • Partnering with key stakeholders to develop and strengthen relationships.  Uses relationship management skills/tools to responsibly influence decisions with stakeholders.
  • Provide regular, consistent updates to relevant stakeholders

Leadership & Teamwork

  • To lead, motivate and develop colleagues to deliver outstanding service by effectively managing risk..
  • Effectively working with colleagues and all Business stakeholders acting as a subject matter expert.
  • Is accountable for the effective cascade of communication across teams.

Overall Operational Effectiveness & Control 

  • Is accountable for meeting operational risk targets, implementing audit points from 1LoD, 2LoD and 3LoD reviews and audits, the management of Issue, Actions and Internal Events, and continually adhering to Global Standards.
  • Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards including the timely implementation of Group Audit recommendations.
  • Must respond to all Functional escalations, resolving or escalating all issues with operational effectiveness in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Report Function level MI and issues  as appropriate to all stakeholders as required.             
Qualifications

What you will need to succeed in the role: (Minimum Qualification and Skills Required)

  • Recognized by the Business as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Proven ability to understand complex and/or new issues, mobilize and execute transformation programs.
  • Strong  communication, presentation and influencing skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently and to articulate complex issues concisely.
  • Proven abilities in working across cultures and in a complex regional environment.
  • A resilient, self-starter capable of driving performance sometimes in ill-defined / new domains/virtual / remote basis;
  • Excellent planning, organizing and commercial skills including strong financial management capabilities.
  • Ability to leverage resources outside of direct control to achieve goals.

  • Ability to effectively mitigate identified Operational Risks. 
  • Understanding of Group’s Statutory Audit standards.
  • Regulatory & compliance knowledge
