The role of Regulatory Affairs is to ensure no surprises in relation to HSBC’s engagement with regulators or regulatory developments. The team strives to deliver world class support to its stakeholders through timely communication, prompt action, follow-up, and escalation. This is to ensure that stakeholders are fully aware of the risks impacting their area of responsibility and can make informed decisions to deliver strategic objectives. 
The role holder will form part of the Global Regulatory Affairs team extension in the RC Stewardship CoE, Poland and will work directly with the local team, as well as in-country stakeholders, providing support in two key areas:
    • Regulatory Developments, responsible for setting globally consistent standards for identification and management of regulatory change with regards to Compliance risks. It ensures that HSBC navigates the regulatory landscape through horizon scanning, regulatory interpretation, lobbying, and strategic influencing.
and/or
    • Regulatory Engagement, that facilitates proactive and consistent management and oversight of regulatory relationships globally. 

What you’ll do
    • Reporting: assist in the preparation of MI’s and papers for the Board and the Regulatory Compliance Executive Committee; Global Regulatory Affairs ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting; Group Regulatory Engagement Forum (GREF) reporting, periodic reporting on current engagements with regulators.
    • Governance: support the preparation of meeting decks by compiling slides, processing data, and helping to structure clear and engaging presentation for internal stakeholders; maintaining the Group Regulatory Affairs SharePoint site up to date. 
    • Data quality and remediation: assist in Quality Control checks on significant open RAPID2 Regulatory Development Records. Update QC tracker, prepare quarterly reports and document outcomes (incl. lessons learned) from QC reviews.  Support the Quality Assurance process on closed Engage records and open findings, communicate data quality results to senior Regulatory Affairs stakeholders. Entity Level Controls (ELCs): assist in the materiality review of Engage records.
    • Applicability assessment: review of regulatory developments and consultations for Group/Holdings and HSBC Global Asset Management (UK) Ltd., assist in undertaking applicability assessment reviews. Updating RAPID2 records on behalf of the Onshore Review Global/Holdings team.
    • Undertaking daily horizon scanning across the group’s core regulators, for the purpose of ad hoc flash reporting to senior executives.
    • Assisting in the development, implementation and embedding of operational processes to support Global Regulatory Affairs (including onboarding of new activities, producing procedures, assisting in the delivery of training on system functionalities etc).

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Fluency in English.
    • Knowledge of key regulatory bodies in the banking industry and understanding of their roles & responsibilities.
    • Ability to understand and interpret regulations. 
    • Good analytical skills: ability to analyse & interpret data, capability to articulate output of data analysis.
    • Attention to detail, quality and risk focus.
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work directly with individuals at different GCB levels (including senior management), in multiple locations.
    • Excellent time and workload management skills. Able to prioritise effectively.
