Join HSBC’s Markets and Securities Services (MSS) technology team, where innovation drives global financial services. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you’ll be part of a collaborative team developing high-performance FX applications for institutional clients, including Prime Brokerage, Hedging, and Order Management services. You’ll work in a global environment with teams across Europe, Asia, and North America, contributing to agile, microservices-based systems that are deployed daily.
This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll take ownership of the full development lifecycle—from design and coding to deployment and production support. You’ll be empowered to improve systems, ensure cybersecurity compliance, and deliver scalable, secure software that meets the demands of high-volume financial markets.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using Java and modern JavaScript frameworks (Angular/React).
- Build and manage microservices architecture for scalable and efficient deployment.
- Collaborate with global teams to deliver FX services for institutional clients.
- Ensure high performance and reliability of financial market systems.
- Implement DevOps practices including automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Maintain production systems and respond to live issues when necessary.
- Ensure software complies with internal cybersecurity standards.
- Participate in agile development processes and continuous delivery practices.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- 5-10 years of hands-on experience as a Full Stack Engineer with strong Java expertise.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and Spring Boot framework.
- Experience with front-end technologies such as Angular, React, or other JavaScript libraries.
- Proficiency in relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB).
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to clean, secure code.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
- Passion for software ownership, including production support and continuous improvement.
