Your career opportunity
As Vice President – Risk Stewardship, you will lead a team of financial crime (FC) risk professionals within the Centre of Excellence (COE), supporting the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) business. You will play a critical role in advising on FC risk, strengthening the internal control environment, and ensuring compliance with global standards. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence across a complex, matrixed organization.

You will be expected to set the tone at the top by promoting a culture of transparency, accountability, and compliance. • Support governance forums with risk insights, documentation, and escalation of key issues.
    • Ensure consistent application of FC policies and frameworks across regions and markets.
    • Act as a key escalation point for complex FC risk issues and support resolution in collaboration with senior stakeholders.
    • Drive change initiatives to improve strategic FC systems and controls while balancing commercial considerations.

To succeed in this role you need to have:
    • Significant experience in financial crime risk management, operational risk, or a related advisory function within financial services.
    • Strong understanding of FC risk frameworks, regulatory expectations, and control environments.
    • Proven leadership experience, including managing teams and influencing across global, matrixed organizations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and articulate risk clearly.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret large volumes of data and produce actionable insights.
    • Experience working across diverse jurisdictions with varying regulatory requirements.
    • Ability to lead change initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Strong judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in complex or ambiguous situations.
    • Nice to have:
      • Knowledge of CIB or IWPB business models and products.
      • Experience with regulatory audits, assurance reviews, or internal control assessments.
      • Familiarity with HSBC’s NFRO framework or similar risk oversight models.
