International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) is our global business providing products and services such as bank accounts, credit cards, personal loans, instalment lending, mortgages and savings accounts, as well as asset management, insurance, wealth management and private banking that best suit our customers’ needs.

Our unsecured lending business has plans to significantly grow our credit card, loan, and installment lending businesses with Emerging and Mass Affluent customers. A key part of this ambition is supported by our product development activities. We are seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Head of Cards & Loans Product Management for IWPB UAE. This role reports to the Head of Unsecured Lending business UAE.

The Role 

In this role you will be responsible for leading HSBC’s product development and related activities for Cards and Loans products. Leading a team of Product Managers, you will also be accountable for the strategic development of products and services. 

Furthermore, in this role you will be required to: 

  • Develop and deliver unsecured lending product development plans (strategy, proposition and delivery), aligned with our overall unsecured lending strategy
  • Ensure profitability outcomes in line with bank’s ROTE requirements
  • Delivery of core servicing journey capabilities for unsecured lending products
  • Ensure key customer metrics are achieved 
  • Simplify and re-align product suite to customer and segment needs
  • Conduct market research, customer segmentation, and competitor benchmarking to identify new opportunities 
  • Lead innovation in product features 
  • Ensure all products are compliant with regulations and internal policy guidelines
  • Build, lead and mentor a high-performing product team with clear KPIs and development goals
  • Develop and manage unsecured lending products to meet the strategic plan for product sales, profitability and market share growth that is based on customer insights and data
  • Accountable for achieving product level revenue, profitability, and growth targets
  • Develop our Credit Cards, Loans and Debit Cards product development strategy 
  • Deliver core journey capabilities to ensure existing customers are active and engaged 
  • Track and manage the relevant performance indicators for products vs core benchmarks
  • Ensure strong product control, governance and compliance with all regulatory and policy requirements 
  • Works closely with the Customer teams to reduce complaints with program level and tactical solutions
  • Improve NPS position
  • Drive identification of investments needs, preparation of business cases to secure investments, and subsequent prioritization 
  • Leads in the simplification agenda with propositions which are easy to understand by the customers
  • Drive usage and activation of the value proposition features
  • Lead debit card and GMC commercialization and schemes co-badging projects.

  • Critical to demonstrate active collaboration across stakeholders and broader team
  • Responsible for removing barriers and aligning with best practices for specific areas of accountability.
  • Responsible for ensuring the delivery of specific strategic goals in conjunction with stakeholders to build a profitable and sustainable business where services are complementary and not competing.

  • Clear performance management for direct reports, and the provision of coaching on managing teams

Requirements

In order to apply for the role, you must have the following:

  • Significant experience leading product management teams, developing product programs, running governance, and driving execution
  • Proven and deep expertise in Cards and Loans product development and new product launches for a leading bank is required. 
  • Experience working for an International bank would be advantageous. 
  • Prior experience of leading emerging affluent and affluent segments will be an advantage. 
  • Bachelors Degree in a related field. Graduation level education is needed to secure a work permit in UAE. 
  • Excellent collaboration skills in order to cultivate trusting relationship and partnerships within broader team and stakeholders.
  • Execution focused with high motivation to work within complex matric to drive execution 
  • Strong foundations in P&L understanding and management is required. 
  • Significant experience in delivering P&L outcomes for products is required. 
  • Customer oriented, culturally sensitive and strong relationship building and senior stakeholder management skills 
  • Excellent communication skills are critical as well as superior listening / empathy skills given the highly interactive nature of the role and need to achieve buy-in at many levels to be successful
  • Deep understanding of risk management for an unsecured lending business 
  • Product management experience in driving product change / transformation initiatives 
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to drive compelling narratives / storylines, and business cases – driving clear consensus on product value propositions that are synthesized from a variety of inputs and viewpoints
  • Strong influencing skills are required to engage and lead in a positive, inspiring manner.
