In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the establishment, implementation and continuous improvement of the IWPB Australia’s internal control framework and ensuring accurate reporting of risk matters. The role reports Head of IWPB Business Risk and will effectively and adequately scope, manage and reduce IWPB’s exposure towards undue risk, whilst maximizing loss mitigation and creating a sustainable culture to support such activities. 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Design, implementation, and monitoring of robust internal controls to minimize operation risk in the IWPB business and form adequate control in the ‘First Line of Defense’.
  • Establish appropriate operational controls based on risk assessments to ensure that the Group’s Operational Risk Management Framework is met and fully adhered to. 
  • Strong collaboration with the Second Line of Defense to deliver and embed an effective Risk & Control framework. 
  • Provide expert advice on Risk & Control matters to senior leadership and cross functional teams, offering guidance on best practice and regulatory requirements to support informed decision making. 
  • Collaborate with senior management to identify, assess, and manage risks, and implementing strategies to mitigate risks. 
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Finance and/or business-related field with exceptional understanding of operational risk and controls preferably gained through experience in front line and risk roles.
  • Proven problem solving skills with ability to consider alternative and lateral solutions. 
  • Highly developed communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work independently under pressure within a team environment
  • Knowledge of the changing regulatory environment
  • Proven leadership, management and coaching skills.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
