About the Team:

HSBC Securities & Capital Markets India Technology team is responsible to run the Cash Equities and Securities Financing platforms that offer client execution capabilities front to back.

The team is responsible to support platforms spanning Cash Equities and Securities Financing business while closely working with the local and regional businesses and supporting functions. The team team crucially contributes to the development of  new solutions and platforms as well as provide resiliency and business continuity in this key market for HSBC.

The team is located in Mumbai at HSBC India Headquarters at M.G. Road and collaborates closely with other strategic locations such as Pune, Hong Kong, China, London and New York.

Purpose of the Job:

We are looking for a Head of Equities and Securities Financing HSCI Tech India to be part of the global ESF Organization.  This role partners with the business leadership to ensure technology platforms can support the local growth ambitions. The candidate should have strategic thinking, strong stakeholder management, and technology leadership capabilities in a geographically spread multi-cultural environment.

Responsible For:

Equities and Securities Financing Technology organization where you are required to forge strong partnership with the business, think strategically and are able to navigate the organization to realise that strategic goal.  The role partners with colleagues from Front Office, Back Office, Finance, Operations, Research, Global Banking and other allied business / support functions of the HSCI entity.

Requirements

Minimum Graduation or as required for the role, whichever is higher      

ESSENTIAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS (Experience, skills, competencies etc)

Leadership and Strategic Thinking

  • Develop and execute on a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the business objectives
  •  Lead and manage a team of technology professionals in a collaborative and high-performance culture to deliver practical and efficient solutions locally, leveraging technology from the global franchise, where applicable.
  • Proven experience in technology leadership roles supporting a Cash Equities and/or Futures executions business
  • Proven track record in delivering large scale platform transformation projects.

Technical 

  • Front office trading technology, preferably Equities, Future and Options, and Securities Financing technology experience
  • Ability to understand, manage and continuously improve on the local front to back technology stack, including vendor engagements
  • Agile delivery mindset with ability to drive business outcomes

Business

  • General understanding of Equities, Future and Options, and Securities Financing as well as relevant market structure and regulatory knowledge.  An ideal candidate will have depth in one or more of these areas
  • Foster strong partnership and collaborate with senior stakeholders from the business, supporting functions, and compliance teams.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (KPIs, travel etc)

  • You are an excellent communicator, are comfortable communicating directly with all levels of the business and the wider technology organization.  You are able to use the right level of detail depending on the audience and the need.
