Global Functions (GFs) play a vital role in supporting the bank’s Global Businesses and offer a broad range of career opportunities in areas from legal, risk and finance to human resources, sustainability, marketing and communications. Their operational and functional teams around the world help HSBC’s Global Businesses to operate efficiently and effectively on a day-to-day basis. They also focus on controls and governance to reduce risk and protect the Group’s reputation.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Head of Tax.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Work closely with business management to execute tax related strategic priorities including appropriate tax treatment on products and services.
  • Lead tax compliance and reporting, transfer pricing, transactional, direct and indirect, people and local tax processes & controls.
  • Lead the provision of ongoing technical tax advisory support to wider finance and business stakeholders, the interpretation and training of new/upcoming financial and regulator changes, and the impact on the Bank.
  • Hold and exercise the tax risks steward role for the Bank.
  • Work closely with regulators on various tax matters and audit/inspections.
Qualifications

  • Degree holder in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines with professional accounting qualification.
  • 12-15 years of professional tax experience gained from Big Four, banks and sizeable corporations. In-depth tax experiences of Vietnam and other Asia Pacific tax jurisdiction preferred
  • An excellent level of business analysis experience requiring strong technical and commercial understanding of what drives the numbers
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability of excellent stakeholder management, working effectively across teams and problem solving with the confidence to make measured decisions which may have far reaching implications
  • Sound judgment, decision making and problem solving abilities
  • Strong analytical ability with attention to detail, able to maintain the highest levels of accuracy and adherence to standards and policies.
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Vietnamese
