What you will do
Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Banking Coverage: You will gain first-hand experience of how our relationship managers, working closely with our product specialists, create innovative solutions to meet the banking needs of our largest corporate and institutional clients. You will have a chance to understand how we build trusted relationships with our clients, gain a great overview of the breadth of products HSBC can offer and see how we respond to our clients’ need by deploying these products into tailored solutions across multiple countries. You will also see how we help the Bank manage the risk inherent from dealing with these clients, to ensure we foster a sustainable business model.
Graduate program offers clear path to a successful role as an Analyst in one of our coverage teams that support global large corporates, international mid-market companies, institutional clients or our multi-national clients under Global Network Banking.
There will be plenty of people around to support you. You’ll be assigned a mentor and buddy, who will be on hand to offer advice and guidance and provide a sounding-board for your ideas. There will be many opportunities to develop your network of contacts within CIB Japan and beyond. You’ll also be able to take part in our sustainability initiatives. Our volunteering programme, Diversity & Inclusion activities, for example, could help you to develop new skills, while contributing to the communities in which we work.

Learning and development
We offer a high-quality learning and development programme. You will start your 12-18 months of rotation program in Tokyo, Japan. You will first take new joiner induction training, followed by several e-learning courses, JSDA qualification training. Afterward, we expect you to start on-the-job training and rotations within CIB businesses including coverage team, products (Global Payment Solutions, Global Trade Solutions), risk management, and client services.
We’ll provide the support, tools and opportunities for you to drive your own career development. Your training will be carefully structured, with events and other opportunities to build your wider HSBC and banking knowledge. You’ll have regular access to business leaders for coaching and advice, while constructive feedback will enable you to measure your performance.

The base location for this role is Tokyo, Japan.
The Graduate programme at HSBC CIB Banking Coverage Japan is open to both recent graduates (in last 1-2 years) and students expecting to graduate in 2025-2026. Graduates with bachelor’s degree or above from a reputable university may apply.
Candidates should be fluent in Japanese and English, both written and verbal.
