We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of  Legal Counsel ,Global Trade & Receivables Finance 

Principal responsibilities 

  • To provide legal support to HSBC’s Global Commercial Banking business and specifically the area of Global Trade & Receivables Finance  to ensure that its legal risk is fully identified and managed, transactions are supported and escalations occur in a timely manner.
  • This is an opportunity for an experienced transactional banking and finance lawyer to be trained on the job and develop into a trade finance lawyer, at a world leading and award-winning provider for trade and supply chain finance solutions.
  • International travel expected occasionally.
  • Provide legal support to the  Global Trade & Receivables Finance business on transactions.
  • Ensure transaction documentation, for which the jobholder is responsible, adheres to Global Trade & Receivables Finance policies and procedures, to manage legal risk.
  • Use agreed channels to escalate matters where necessary to ensure the business receives timely and appropriate legal support.
  • The role holder is responsible for the drafting and negotiating of various types of trade documentation.
  • Review of template facility and security documentation from all customer segments for products which include receivables finance, lending, documentary credits, trade collections, bonds/guarantees, supply chain finance, leasing and hire purchase.
  • Gap analysis of standard terms against bespoke documentation.
  • Review of transactional documentation, including customer board resolutions and capacity opinions.
    Requirements
    • Qualified lawyer (common law jurisdiction preferable) with a minimum of 8+ years’ post qualification banking and finance law experience.
    • Strong understanding of domestic banking and finance law and transactions. Trade finance experience preferred but not required.
    • Strong people management experience, with an ability to motivate others and create a collaborative team environment
    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload.
    • Strong communication and inter-personal skills.
    • Lateral thinking/problem solving.
    • Regulatory experience and an understanding of risk management is an advantage, but not essential.
