We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Liquidity Risk Manager.

Principal Responsibilities

Liquidity Risk Manager will be responsible for providing independent risk oversight of liquidity risk management over first line activities, performing analysis and producing management reports etc. for Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HBAP). The role holder will work very closely with teams in both first and second line of defence (1LOD & 2LOD) e.g. Treasury, Markets Treasury, Markets & Securities Services, Finance, Financial Operations, Group and country Treasury Risk Management teams to drive risk management in the areas outlined. 

In this role you will

  • Provide analytical support to enhance the depth of insights of 2LOD review and challenge to liquidity scenarios and assumptions made by 1LOD, particularly for stress testing and short term and long term forecasting process
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders (e.g. Treasury, Finance Operations) to develop bespoke and what-if stress testing analysis to enhance 2LOD’s review and challenge
  • Monitor liquidity positions and prepare management report
  • Understand the end-to-end process, data infrastructure and systems used by the 1LOD for liquidity reporting and forecasting
  • Keep current on regulations relating to Liquidity Risk management issued and reviewed by the HKMA, PRA and any other relevant regulator
  • Review new products and processes from liquidity risk perspective and ensure effective controls to ensure appropriate risk management occurs during their life cycle
  • Establish strong partnership with stakeholders while balancing the independent risk oversight requirements
  • Foster a strong risk culture within partner functions, promoting risk awareness, escalation, and effective risk management practices
Requirements

To be successful you will need

  • Prior experience in liquidity risk, ALM/Treasury experience with strong technical knowledge of banking products and financial markets

  • Extensive experience with data manipulation software languages (SQL, VBA and etc.) and analytical software languages (Python, R, SAS, MATLAB and etc.) and data visualization tools (Qlik sense, Tableau and etc.) will be looked upon favourably

  • Have experience developing and productionizing automated analytical and visualization tools

  • Fundamental knowledge liquidity risk regulations, and best practice and regulatory expectations for liquidity risk management

  • Fundamental understanding of all business line activities in an institution commensurate with a size and complexity of HBAP

  • Practical experience of working across all levels of an organisation to understand cross-functional linkages and interdependencies

  • High level of maturity, resilience, sharp negotiation and communication skills. A good team player, ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Quantitative degree with experience in programming (will be a plus) and excellent commercial acumen
