We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager – Decision Sciences
Principal responsibilities
- Provide independent oversight and challenge to the first line’s ALCM activities, ensuring that risk management practices align with the bank’s risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk management frameworks, policies, and controls related to ALCM risk.
- Lead the design and execution of comprehensive stress testing programs for ALCM risks, assessing the potential impact of adverse economic and financial conditions on the bank’s balance sheet, liquidity, and capital adequacy.
- Collaborate with senior management to integrate stress testing results into the bank’s capital planning process, ensuring that capital adequacy is maintained under various stress scenarios.
- Review and challenge the assumptions, methodologies, and outcomes of stress tests to ensure they are robust and aligned with regulatory expectations.
- Lead the identification, assessment, and monitoring of key risks within ALCM, including interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB), liquidity risk, and capital adequacy.
- Ensure comprehensive risk assessments are conducted, and appropriate controls are in place to mitigate identified risks.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management on matters related to ALCM risk, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Engage with business units to ensure that ALCM strategies are aligned with the bank’s overall risk management objectives and risk appetite.
- Issue Risk assurance reports on ILAAP, ICAAP, IRRBB and other risk domains..
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent are highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in risk management, with a strong focus on ALCM, treasury, or balance sheet management within a financial institution.
- Deep knowledge of ALCM risks, including liquidity risk, interest rate risk, and capital management, with a proven track record of managing these risks at a senior level.
- Experience in a second-line risk stewardship or risk oversight role is highly desirable.
- Significant experience in leading stress testing and capital planning initiatives, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with a deep understanding of financial modeling, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and advising senior stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, including Basel III/IV and IRRBB, with experience in regulatory reporting and compliance.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior team members. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously.
- High level of integrity, with a commitment to upholding the HSBC’s risk culture and ethical standards.Professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent are highly preferred.
