Human Resources leads the implementation of the Group’s people strategy in line with business objectives. It facilitates talent management, succession planning and employee mobility while defining and overseeing frameworks that support employee performance management, reward, learning and development, resourcing and engagement. 

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our Human Resources team, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role : 

In this role you will provide specialist support to the Policy and Risk vertical across MENAT, ensuring that the same strategy and frameworks are used across all markets in the vertical.

As a part of this role you will support in the building of a business-centric Policy and People Risk service through contributing to the following:  

  • Strategic Framework Development

     

    Develop and implement comprehensive policies and minimum standards that align with the HSBC values and regulatory requirements, ensuring consistency across the MENAT.

  • Compliance Assurance:
    Oversee the compliance of frameworks and processes, ensuring that all MENAT teams adhere to established guidelines and achieve key compliance metrics.
  • Process Oversight:
    Manage and enhance oversight of process controls related to policy implementation, ensuring that they are effective and aligned in MENAT.
  • Global Policy alignment:
    Maintain and update the global policy content, including the Code of Conduct, ensuring relevance and applicability across diverse markets.
  • Risk Management:
    Assess and manage risks associated with contentious advisory activities, such as exit discussions and other sensitive matters, ensuring the risks are mitigated appropriately.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Collaborate with key stakeholders, including senior leadership and regional teams.
  • Support for Risk Stewardship:
    Lead initiatives to support risk stewardship activities, providing guidance and expertise to enhance overall risk posture.
  • Training and Communication:
    Develop training programs to enhance understanding of policies and risk management among employees, promoting a culture of compliance.

Key Accountabilities: 

Policy 

  • Support in the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of policies as it relates to Employment Practices and Relations ensuring they are legally compliant, business-friendly, and aligned to corporate strategy and vision. 
  • Contribute and support policy owner (East and West) in launching new global policies or policy changes and ensure feedback from MENAT relevant stakeholders is sought and provided.
  • Carry out regular review of local policies to ensure compliance with local laws and regulatory requirements. 
  • Contribute to review of policies driven by other HR/function and solicit feedback from PSA Policy Lead (West and East) on the planed policy launch and assess if any actions are required to be taken prior to policy launch. 
  • To work with the Head of Policy and People Risk streamlining and simplify policies and its process to make it fit for purpose.
  • Check HRDirect for policy feedback and respond to feedback, with objective of achieving positive feedback from business and PSA representatives aligned to vision.
  • Providing guidance to People Advisory on policies implementation
  • Review Internal Audit reports to check any references to PSA owned policy or People Risk (EP&R risks) to identify any issues with policy application or adherence.
  • Support in conducting Policy Clinics.
  • Work collaboratively with the other Policy and People Risk team from other markets

     

     

    Risk 

     

  • To review and mitigate People Risk.
  • Support in carrying out Control assessments and monitoring on HELIOS 2 by reviewing and updating of CMAs on quarterly basis on HELOS. 
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory changes identified on RAPID 2 /Horizon scanning and all actions completed within deadline 
  • Support carrying out high-level impact assessment, including impacts to Policies. Develop action plans to address any gaps and monitor/ execute until certification of completion and adherence is met. 
  • Follow up and monitor compliance of other countries’ with any new local regulatory changes and ensure compliance within stipulated time frame. 
  • Contribute to identifying common/emerging people risk flagged as amber/red in the risk reporting dashboard. Identify themes that may recur or with significant business impact which will be covered through Risk Storytelling with the aim to humanize People Risk .
  • Responses to requests from Interim Head of Policy and People Risk, Asia, Middle East & Infrastructure and People Policy and Risk Lead, MENAT. 
Requirements

In order to apply for this role , you will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law/ Human Resources, specialising in Employment law would be an advantage.  
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Employee Relations / HR Business Partner / Legal Consultancy, with demonstrated understanding of employee relations /policy writing/ stakeholder management. 
  • Ability to identify, analyse / evaluate and resolve People issues and provide consultation to various stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience of management presentation, report writing, drafting guidance materials/policies is required. 
  • Lateral thinking/problem solving skills. 
  • Agile towards People issues and ability to blend within People Team and stakeholders 
  • Strong ability to prioritise and manage changing deadlines 
  • Strict adherence to the requirements of confidentiality, discretion and integrity. Demonstrates positive and collaborative values and behaviours reflected across all people delivery touch points. 
  • Knowledge of HR risk 2LOD activities is advantage .
