The Private Banking (PB) US Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for a complex strategic delivery agenda that requires agility and at pace execution, decisive leadership, timely issue resolution and a central focus on client impact. In this role, you will drive the Global and US GPB strategy, enabling successful execution of key strategic initiatives focused on delivering maximum value to the business and shareholders. In holding responsibility for Global Private Banking US performance, you will have accountability to and engagement with senior business partners across the organization, including the IWPB US CEO and leadership team, Global PB senior leadership, and GPB & WPS COO function and leadership team. This will require ongoing management of BAU with uncompromising focus on results while maintaining a safe and sound risk and control framework.
You will report to The Head of Business Management and Commercial Execution (IWPB and PB) in the day-to-day management of business priorities. This includes support for the IWPB and GPB governance cycle, strategic initiative execution, management of ad hoc priorities for the Regional Head, liaising with GPB / WPB leadership in coordinating key deliverables, supporting interactions with / requests from US IWPB CEO, as well as any external engagements with clients / vendors / analysts (working with Comms / Marketing, as needed) etc.
As our Private Banking (PB) US Chief Operating Officer (COO) you will:
Ensure senior leadership agenda (incl. formal governance) is focused on key priorities driving long-term growth, profitability, and shareholder value
Maintain PB financial performance, cost discipline, operational effectiveness, and making strategic adjustments as required
Drive senior leadership accountability to performance and objectives and ensure delivery of efficient, compliant, and client-centric operations
Oversee front-to-back processes, ensuring continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and service-level excellence
Manage cost discipline and productivity programs across the region
Responsible for designing and maintaining PB business target operating model, organizational design, and all related processes
Manage the change execution agenda for the business, prioritizing scope based on business value, ensuring delivery across key strategic and transformation initiatives
Accountable for combined VSIP oversight, planning, governance and agile ways of operating across the PB US CTB portfolio
Responsible for working with Technology to ensure platforms development and roll out in US delivers the intended strategic outcomes
Operate the business in compliance with all regulatory, legal and HSBC standards
Report to Regulators, Board of Directors, senior leadership etc. on GPB US on strategic execution, financial performance, and key risks
Coordinate PB governance, key projects and strategic initiatives
Partner with HR and Business Heads on workforce planning, hiring plans, and talent initiatives
Oversee distinct PB communications strategy and people plan promoting HSBC values, inclusion and a strong conduct culture
Manage headcount and location strategy, ensuring alignment with business requirements and capacity
Serve as an interface between front office and infrastructure teams (e.g., Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, Risk, HR, Finance) and serve as a point of contact for PB Region across various critical requests and escalations
Ensure continuous connectivity with key clients and stakeholders through various client events and senior leadership engagement
For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $266,300 and $399,500.
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You’ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
Experience of 10 - 15 years + years in Private Banking /Wealth Management, with significant exposure to COO - type roles or business management
Bachelor's Degree required, MBA or equivalent preferred. Degrees preferred in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field
Knowledge of the US market, wealth, affluesnt market trends, and deep understanding of US regulatory framework, risk management and compliance
Outstanding work ethic and proven track record of leading multiple initiatives simultaneously and managing complex transformation projects in an agile manner
Strong strategic acumen with the ability to navigate complex financial environments and drive P&L / business performance success
Ability to work independently in a small team with a flat structure and build relationships, influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally
Highly developed analytical skills and ability to draw insights from a complex set of data sources
Ability in communicating (written and verbal) and experience in creating executive-ready written content (papers, prep notes, speaking points, etc.)
Flexibility and adaptability – constantly changing priorities and tasks that are potentially highly restricted in nature, unpredictable and wide ranging, complex and time sensitive requires the simultaneous handling of a broad range of issues
Experience leading by example, demonstrating core behaviors and values including teamwork, focus, drive and determination
Knowledge of competitive landscape, remaining abreast of external developments in global markets and competitor activity
