Senior ALCM Quantitative Analyst, HSBC Technology & Services (USA) Inc., Depew, NY: This role is situated within the First Line of Defense (FLOD), in Asset Liability & Capital Management (ALCM) and will prepare, manage, analyze, and model large data sets for statistical analysis and development of econometric models to estimate customer or bank behaviors related to interest rate, liquidity, and stressed capital risks while adhering to model risk governance policies and ensuring ongoing compliance with model governance requirements. Responsible for developing, validating, documenting, performance monitoring, and testing of Asset Liability & Capital Management quantitative behavioral models including, but not limited, to those that forecast balance sheet, income statement, prepayments, non-contractual deposit balances, early withdrawals, pricing, spreads, rate index, yield curve, and product balance runoff & growth. This role will also maintain the model inventory, be the primary interface to model oversight including ALCM Second Line of Defense (SLOD), Independent Model Review (IMR), Internal Audit, vendors, and regulators, and resolve model related findings.

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, Pay range: $154,400- $287,600 per year.

Requirements

Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Quantitative Finance with a focus on statistical methods, or a closely related field and at least
7 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or Quantitative Finance with a focus on statistical methods or a related field and at least 5 years of related work experience.

Qualifying experience must include at least 5 years of experience in:

 

·         Statistical modeling and programming using a statistical software package such as SAS, R, Matlab, Python in a financial application;

·         Modeling financial instruments and related behaviors; and

·         Data management and demonstrated ability to manage, cleanse, and analyze large data sets.

 

Qualifying experience must include at least 3 years of experience in:

 

·         Developing or configuring mortgage prepayment and deposit attrition models, and model sensitivity and performance analytics;

·         Cash flow, product, and/or balance sheet forecasting under various macroeconomic scenarios for financial institution stress testing;

·         Asset Liability and Capital Management risks and ratio calculations including those used in interest rate risk, liquidity risk management, capital stress testing, and transfer pricing;

·         Understanding of financial and accounting principles, terminology and concepts; and

·         Effectively managing teams and stakeholders whether directly or indirectly.
