Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB)

In Wealth and Personal Banking, we serve 41 million customers globally, including 6.7 million who are international, from retail customers to ultra high net worth individuals and their families. We help our customers to take care of their day-to-day finances and to manage, protect and grow their wealth. Our key areas of operations include Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Asset Management, Global Private Banking, Insurance, and Chief Operating Office.




We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:  
 

Impact on the Business/Function

1.        Strengthen HSBC’s image as a leading wealth provider by providing clients with access to advanced technical product expertise;

2.        Support PRMs to gain more clients’ confidence and trust in HSBC capabilities and increase the effectiveness and quality of needs fulfilled for target clients in need;

3.        Assist PRMs in deepening and growing client relationships through identifying and uncovering client's needs, identifying relevant wealth solution and technical analysis, and assisting PRMs in presenting and explaining solution(s) to client in according to EDRAS.

4.        Conduct portfolio reviews with PRMs, assess product suitability and market and regulatory change impact to products held by clients as appropriate, identify opportunities and manage risks,

5.        Join PRMs in meeting clients and provide advice, input based on technical knowledge while acting as a second point of contact to PRMs for specific products and solutions;

6.        Join PRMs in meeting clients and receive referrals from PRMs to help fulfill client’s needs by certain complex WEM product. In such cases, PRMs must be limited by their own sales accreditation on certain complex WEM product, while a licensed Senior Product Expert is acting as a back up to help fulfill client’s needs but do not directly advise or sell to clients.

7.        Improve PRMs product specific technical knowledge by effective on-job coaching and training

 

Customers / Stakeholders

1.        Communicate effectively with clients on complex technical subjects, helping them to improve understanding of financial markets and the value and risks of financial solutions through educational events

2.        Initiate and conduct educational events with clients to improve clients’ financial literacy and knowledge of financial markets and solutions

3.        Continue to develop and sharpen technical expertise, working closely with the Wealth Development team and product manufacturers e.g. AMG, HSBC Insurance, and third party product partners to help improve client satisfaction and outcome

4.        Identify and provide feedback from PRMs and clients to product teams in order to continuously improve our products and services

5.        Collect and apply market and channel intelligence to identify and share competitive gaps, service issues, business opportunities, and challenges with stakeholders

6.        Work with PRMs to follow through execution of the product contract presented to clients where technical expertise is required

7.        Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets.

 

Leadership & Teamwork

 

1.        Proactively work with a team of PRMs to provide client centric services and solutions

2.        Strong team player that deploys time strategically and commercially in order to support the team of PRMs that they are assigned to

3.        Work with Head of  Wealth Sales and Head of PE to provide front line perspective and input to Country CVM, Wealth Development team, HSBC Insurance, AMG, and Global Markets on the planning and development of products, associated processes, and tools where relevant

4.        Assist in the launch of complex products where appropriate

5.        Act as an ambassador for HSBC and exhibits high professional standards

6.        Partner with Sales Managers to identify and manage product specific needs and risks in the portfolios of PRMs

7.        Delivering the firm - Put the client at the heart of our business and deliver joined up services and solutions aligned to client needs.

8.        As for Specialist Individual Contributor, but in a leadership role e.g. is a highly specialised resource/ manages a complex technology.

9.        Support achievement of the HSBC vision, Values, goals and culture in personal behaviour, actions and decision making.

10.    Provide technical leadership and support technical excellence by searching out external best practice, monitoring technical and professional developments, sharing knowledge and encouraging others to do the same in the best interests of HSBC and its customers.

11.    Encourage and enable constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management in action and challenging actions and behaviours that are not consistent with HSBC's diversity policy and/or the best interests of the business and its customers.

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

1.        Actively support PRMs to offer clients solutions that meet their needs and risk profile

2.        Maintain a high level of technical expertise by working closely with product team and product providers

3.        Ensure all processes and procedures are accurate and in accordance with  the RBWM policy standards and regulatory requirements

4.        Comply with local regulations in all aspects of strategy, sales processes, product suitability, client correspondence, financial promotions, administration, and complaint handling

5.        Adhere to all relevant processes and procedures of the Group compliance policy and internal controls

6.        Pro-actively complete Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and ensure coaching and development action plans are developed and agreed upon with line manager in order to meet and maintain compliance and T&C standards

7.        Contribute to HSBC by creating and retaining market leading standards and controls

8.        As for Specialist Individual Contributor, but in a leadership role e.g. is a highly specialised resource/ manages a complex technology.

9.        Develop and recommend changes and improvements to operating models, procedures and practices based on subject matter expertise and understanding of HSBC and market best practice.

10.    Communicate and adhere to HSBC policy and procedures in order to ensure good operational, financial and project management, policy and procedural compliance and early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.

11.    Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of a management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels.

12.    Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the application of policies, governance frameworks, procedures, practices and standards to ensure quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance.

 

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

 

1.    Knowledge and experience

a)        Minimum of six years of working experience as a product specialist or financial advisor

b)        At least one year of working experience as a product expert or BSM/SBM in RBWM.

c)        Strong client skills with the ability to deliver a strong client experience and provide needs-based solutions

d)        Deep knowledge of specific complex financial solutions and products including the knowledge of financial markets, socia-economic dynamics, and regulatory requirement relevant to the products

e)        Extensive external market awareness of market conditions, new product solutions, and an understanding of current financial market activities

f)         Demonstrated ability and experience to correctly identify client needs

g)        Solid skills to manage consultative sales process

h)        A solid understanding of global anti money laundering standards

i)         Team player with collaborative skills

j)         Knowledge of local and Group compliance regulations

k)        Specialisation in one or more product categories e.g. Structured Products/FX/Investments/Trusts/Estate Planning/Retirement/Protection/Mortage etc.

 

2.    Accreditations

a)        Attain appropriate professional and regulatory qualifications as required by market

b)        Attain any internal standards as required by country

 

3. Leadership capabilities

a)        Have or attain an understanding of the immediate regional Global Wealth Strategy and the ability to plan own activities accordingly
