Role Purpose:
This role requires an individual with more than just experience across programme and project delivery. To be successful this individual will need to be able to shift from strategic design and work at a macro level quickly to detailed planning and analysis. They must assimilate new information at pace, leverage data to support building hypotheses and lead with a commercial and pragmatic approach to decision making. All combined to ensure successful delivery of strategic and transformation initiatives across the MENAT portfolio in support of growth, regulatory change requirements, and all in line with Group Values. MENAT Transformation team delivers across Global Businesses and Functions, and initiatives span all aspects of Transformation, from Product to Process, to Technology and People.
Programme Managers plan, mobilize and direct change programmes and projects of varying complexity from inception to closure. They act as a role model, demonstrating active leadership and communication. Programme Managers are responsible for ensuring successful deployment of the Change Framework and instilling good programme discipline.
Duties & Responsibilites:
To be successful in the role, the individual will take end-to-end responsibility for all aspects of their programmes; working with product owners to define and plan the projects, managing mobilisation, balancing demand with funding and resource supply, controlling execution and managing implementation, change and benefit realisation. They work closely with the Regional Head of Transformation to ensure alignment of their work with the wider MENAT portfolio and Group Strategy, Values and Behaviours.
• Oversees the development of well-defined programme and project plans: coordinates planning with delivery partner teams. Plans effectively around delivery constraints and optimizes the plan to maximize benefits and minimize risk.
• Works with leadership to obtain buy-in, collaborating with and influencing senior management stakeholders for all key plans, commitments and changes.
• Proactively determines, analyses and identifies performance metrics and measurements and dictates improvement plans to track and drive on-time delivery and adherence to budget.
• Actively manages and co-ordinates the programme roadmap, handling changes as they arise and keeping stakeholders focused on the agreed change outcomes and benefits.
• Challenges and intervenes where there is scope creep, budget overrun, plan slippage and threat to benefit realization.
• Obtains sponsor and stakeholder sign-off for deliverables, formally closes projects, assesses stakeholder satisfaction and captures lessons learnt.
• Anticipates and identifies existing or emerging risks & issues.
• Oversees the tracking of project risks, issues & dependencies, assesses the impact on the benefit realization for the project and takes action to minimize impact, actively challenging and removing obstacles.
• Plans and manages the implementation of the change, to ensure business benefits are realized and that the transition from current state to target state is smooth.
• Ensures that the organization and other change audiences are ready, willing and able to function in the new business environment.
• Provides timely reports on project status, risks, and issues, evaluating project performance based on management information.
• Manages and reports on the project budget, acting on any variance and promoting good budget control.
• Works closely with delivery partners on planning, design and estimating, bringing together delivery partner teams; actively managing dependencies between these teams and other projects and projects.
• Works with Regional Transformation teams to source project support as required.
• Ensures project and project teams follow the bank’s Change Framework.
• Identifies resource requirements, requesting the appropriate resource by skill set and/ or experience, through the Regional Transformation resource management process. Works with the business and delivery partners to ensure adequate resource is provided across the portfolio.
• Ensures good project induction and orientation – i.e. the team understand the project context; project and workstream structure/ content, stakeholder importance and how this links to Group Strategy, Values and Behaviors.
• Defines high level responsibilities and objectives for project teams.
• Efficient and appropriate use of resources forming an effective project leadership team, with the right blend of skills and good working relationships.
• As a role model, encourages collaboration and teamwork within the project and with other teams.
Knowledge & Experience
• Graduation degree is REQUIRED– to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit”
• Excellent understanding of transformation, Waterfall and/ or Agile methodologies and best practice techniques.
• Strong understanding of Value Stream driven transformation.
• Understanding of the delivery organizations within HSBC – global mindset, understanding of delivery partners etc.
• Strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc.
• Experience or understanding of financial services / banking and subsequently of how change drives benefits for HSBC, its customers and other stakeholders is preferred.
• Understanding of HSBC Group structures, processes and objectives would be advantageous.
• Proven ability in the successful design and implementation of large-scale, complex global/ regional change initiatives.
• Proven ability to work across an organization whilst maintaining a global perspective.
• Demonstration of commerciality with strong financial acumen.
• Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and business sponsors.
• Evidence of ability to make key strategic decisions.
• Delivery of complex projects, developing high performing teams to support delivery.
• People and team management experience.
• Proven implementation, change management and benefit realization experience.
• Outstanding relationship management and influencing skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels.
• Outstanding organizational and planning skills in order to cope with multiple large-scale responsibilities.
• High level of drive and motivation to ensure successful delivery of complex transformational initiatives.
• Ability to leverage resources available to achieve goals.
• Prince2 or PMP certification - Desirable
• Agile certifications – Desirable
