Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) is our new global business combining Retail Banking and Wealth Management; and Global Private Banking, to become one of the world’s largest global wealth managers with USD1.4 trillion in assets.  Our dedicated colleagues serve millions of customers worldwide across the entire spectrum of private wealth, ranging from personal banking for individuals and families, through to business owners, investors and ultra-high-net-worth individuals.  We provide products and services such as bank accounts, credit cards, personal loans and mortgages, as well as asset management, insurance, wealth management and private banking, that best suit our customers’ needs.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an VP Client Risk Management.

Principal Accountabilities:

Key activities and decision making areas:
  • Development of RCAs, identification of key controls, assessment based on new/emerging risk, and control effectiveness evaluation
  • Key indicator design and monitoring
  • Internal event management reporting, escalation and root cause analysis
  • Identification of Non-Financial Risk (NFR) issues and actions, monitoring progress, ensuring resolution
  • Provide quality advice, guidance and support to business to enable effective risk management, including resilience risk (RR) and operational risk. RR topics will cover information technology, cyber security, data, third party, transaction processing, business interruption and incident response risk types; while operational risk topics will cover broader non-financial risk types
  • Partner with DBS functions (e.g. Technology, Operations, Data) and business to drive proactive identification, assessment and root cause analysis of material risk issues and events; advising and facilitating the design and implementation of effective and sustainable controls
  • On Sales Quality and suitability - to perform sales sampling and Sales Quality/Conduct Analytics embedding and reviews
  • Provide training/feedback to frontline and managing remediation work; produce MI for trend analysis, governance etc; conduct Mystery Shopping design standards, sampling, review and remediation
  • Manage Business financial crime risk for WPB, by supporting frontline on onboarding journey/CDD, managing CSEM on behalf of the business and support external/internal fraud risk assessments and monitoring.

Customers / Stakeholders
  • Advising control operators on prioritisation of potentially divergent and conflicting requirements from a broad range of stakeholders in a BAU context. 
  • Responsible to local WPB for the co-ordination of the controls which deliver the level of financial risk mitigation
  • Identify new or enhanced requirements for risk mitigation, and influence change initiatives that improve the Risk environment.  
  • Develop, strengthen and leverage external relationships with key public and private sector partners and peers in connection with fraud controls.

Operational Effectiveness & Control
  • Drive and Deliver Monthly governance Forums
  • Keep abreast of industry and regulatory developments in risk management, and internal policy changes. Initiate proactive read-cross and gap analyses to continuously optimize the Bank’s risk management capabilities
  • Collaborate with external regulatory bodies and internal Audit and Assurance functions on reviews and management actions relating to risks and controls
  • Provide people leadership and role model behaviors to foster a high performing, connected and inclusive team environment
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes.

Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:

Requirements:
  • University Graduate in Business/Banking/Risk Management or related subject
  • The job holder is required to have at least 10 years’ experience of managing large-scale or enterprise-wide change programs is a plus
  • Effective stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong leadership and sense of ownership, proven problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, excellent organization and execution skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and openness to adapt to changing priorities and tasks
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Vietnamese

  • Influencing skills, including the ability to communicate on a diverse range of topics to multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to articulate complex and sensitive information and situations in meaningful and easily understood terms
  • Confident to challenge when dealing with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate and present well to senior management
