Department introduction
The Risk & Compliance function is a Second line of defense (LOD) function, responsible for reviewing and challenging the activities of the Group’s businesses (also referred to as “the First LOD”) to ensure that they effectively manage as “Risk Owners” the risks inherent in or arising from the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible. The Second LOD consists of 'Risk Stewards' who are independent of the commercial risk-taking activities undertaken by the First LOD. The Risk & Compliance function is a Risk Steward for a number of non-financial risks in accordance with HSBC Group’s risk framework.

Role Purpose:
To manage the Judgmental Lending Approvals and Exceptional Lending Approvals for IWPB to ensure portfolio’s profitability and quality of credit assessment are met with proper credit and operational risk control.

1. To manage the Judgmental Lending Approvals/Exceptional Lending Approvals for IWPB to ensure portfolio’s profitability and quality of credit assessment are met with proper credit and operational risk control
2. To provide valuable insights about application quality for credit policies initiation or refinement
3. To provide SME opinion for credit process and activities
4. To provide SME advice on principles of Judgmental Lending Approvals/Exceptional Lending Approvals
5. To manage the percentage of applications submitted to Judgmental Lending Approval/Exceptional Lending Approval at a reasonable level
6. To act as a checker for the 2LoD review result on IWPB 1LoD retail credit risk related activities
1. Years of experience in consumer lending business
2. Related experience in credit policy or credit approval and sound knowledge of retail risk or end-to-end process
3. People management experience
4. Good communication and presentation skill
5. Ability to cope with the First Line challenges and requests
6. Positive thinking
7. Willing to challenge status quo and provide better solution cross team/function boundaries.
8. Good interpersonal/communication skills and team work player
9. Pre-requisite license qualification: Internal Control (銀行內部控制與內部稽核) and Financial Sense and Ethics (金融市場常識與職業道德)
