We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Vice President, Institutional Clients Group (“ICG”).

Applicants should have a genuine interest in forming a career within the ICG sector and how the bank can add value to clients through the delivery of financial solutions and service. Able to develop relationships with various financial institution and public sector clients including Banks, Asset Managers, Insurers, Asset Owners and other Non-Bank FI’s across HSBC’s global network. Strong preference for candidates with prior experience in managing FI clients, strong FI industry knowledge and network.

The role entails:

Principal Responsibilities

  • Being a key RM of the ICG, CIB Malaysia team, responsible for a defined portfolio of clients including both Malaysian and Internationally based Banks, Non-bank FIs and public sector clients
  • The client base will enable the successful candidate to take ownership to develop and grow the existing client portfolio and work alongside the Head of ICG and senior management team in building on the existing relationships as well as establish new opportunities and relationships
  • Lead and manage origination and execution of activities across the spectrum of CIB products/service
  • Identify event driven and strategic opportunities on an opportunistic basis, bringing in sector/country expertise as appropriate
  • Build Senior client relationships and deepen engagements across various strategic initiatives and thought leadership areas as value add to our key clients
  • Aggressively grow HSBC's share of client wallet involving product specialists to ensure product capabilities are in line with client/sector requirements
  • Actively seek to maximise relationship returns from both existing & prospective clients
  • Actively coordinate and promote local as well as regional initiatives
  • Manage and work with various stakeholders globally on a broad array of products and solutions
  • Manage credit and financial crime risk to ensure risk appetite is aligned with the Bank’s

 

 

Requirements
  • A minimum of 10-12 years in Banking. This should preferably include majority of prior experience as a Relationship Manager (or frontline / sales role in relevant product groups)
  • Business origination skills - ability to spot opportunities within changing market environment / dynamics
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to build and deepen client relationships, develop good working partnership with stakeholders and various product partners
  • Sufficient knowledge in Debt Capital Markets, Financing structures, Global Markets, Trustee and Custody services, cash management and trade solutions). Knowledge in Islamic Banking products & Services as well as ESG related offerings are also key
  • Strong command of governance and risk management matters (both Financial Crime and Credit Risk)
  • In-depth knowledge of the Malaysian FI industry, competitors, client and products
  • Strong analytical skills, financial analysis capability, accounting or finance degree preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory framework with respect to the FI sector
  • A team player and a focus on developing career within CIB, able to guide and develop the junior RM team members within the ICG team
