The VP will work in the New York Debt Capital Markets team for the Bank’s North America region. As a VP Debt Capital Markets, you will be responsible for supporting the team in the origination and execution of corporate bond deals. You will be focused on Investment Grade clients in the Financial Institutions Group. Thia is a client facing role where communication is important. The group is focused on originating new deals as they help companies optimize their capital structure. The team works closely with investment banking coverage and other areas within the group to deliver the full suite of financing and risk management products.

As our Vice President Investment Banking, Debt Capital Markets you will:

  • Assist and oversee the preparation of deal-related and non-deal related marketing material
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with financial and institutional clients to understand their financing needs and objectives
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to assess the value of assets, companies, or securities and identify the most appropriate structuring of capital raising initiatives, including equity financing via an initial public offering, investment grade debt underwriting, leveraged financing solutions for non-investment grade clients, or derivative hedging solutions
  • Collaborate with Coverage, Syndicate, Global Markets, and cross functional teams to ensure successful origination, company due diligence, and execution of various capital market transactions
  • Identification, assessment, and management of risks associated with capital markets transactions and development of risk mitigation strategies in alignment with regulatory requirements
  • Research, financial data analysis and continued development of market insights and investment recommendations
  • Contribute to strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change. 
    Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $250,000.00 and $275,000.00

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Previous investment banking or capital markets experience (4-5 years), with strong understanding of financial markets
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend their validity
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and an understanding of fixed income products
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines and have the aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and to develop innovative solutions
  • Adaptability, able to manage projects independently and be ready to assume a high level of responsibility as a member of a team
  • Ability to comfortably interact with clients in a professional and mature manner
  • Experience in training junior bankers
  • Strong team player, collaborate with others within and across teams, encourages other team members to participate and contribute and acknowledges others’ contributions
  • FINRA series 63, 79 and 7 licenses are required. Manager can allow a contingency period to obtain licenses at their discretion.
