We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Vice President, Underwriting (High Net Worth). 

Principal Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a high performing senior underwriter who is able to embrace HSBC Life’s core values to be part of our High Net Worth Underwriting (HNW) team as Vice President, leveraging on your underwriting expertise in providing competitive and market leading services to contribute to HSBC Life’s strategic and growth objectives. 

  • Deliver competitive and risk appropriate market leading underwriting services consistently
  • Analyse and interpret medical, non medical and financial information to consistently provide accurate and competitive risk selection in accordance with company’s underwriting standards and Group’s financial crime and regulatory compliance policy
  • Management of referral process to ensure maximum capacity for jumbo cases including total line with reinsurer
  • Adopt a partnering approach to support Distribution and the respective channels in ensuring production targets are delivered within stipulated service standard
  • Drive and proactively identify opportunities to streamline internal processes, procedures and workflow to instil a culture of customer-centricity and operational efficiency
  • Actively review underwriting rules, guidelines and philosophy on its continuing market competitiveness andeffectiveness
  • Participate and offer underwriting expertise in new product development or company initiatives
  • Support internal quality assurance governance, peer review
  • Continuous development of junior underwriters
Requirements
  • University Degree or equivalent underwriting or insurance designation
  • Prior experience in HNW underwriting preferred with a minimum underwriting authority of USD10M or at least 10 years of solid experience in underwriting life and critical illness risks
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of medical, non medical and financial principles and practices
  • Excellent communication skills, problem solving and business acumen
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Excel
