Role Purpose:
A Tokyo-based role reporting to the Head of Marketing Japan, responsible for driving product marketing strategies for the wholesale segment in Japan, to help achieve its business growth.
This role is part of the Asset Management Marketing & Client Experience team and while the role primarily supports Wholesale Marketing, he / she will be required to work across the spectrum of propositions and products in the HSBC Asset Management business, as required.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Undertake planning, development and management of all product marketing strategies aimed at driving fund inflow from new and existing clients in Japan
- Work closely with the wholesale sales team to understand and fulfil needs of the investment trust distributor and indivual investor audiences, and deliver marketing content, materials and activities to meet the needs of those clients
- Develop and deliver online and offline client communications in a highly regulated environment through innovative thinking
- Support campaigns utilising traditional media, social and digital media, website, events, partnerships, collaterals, etc. to raise the profile of HSBC AM amongst retail clients
- Keep a strong understanding of the market by tracking and analysing competitors’ activities as well as industry trends with the aim of enriching HSBC AM’s product marketing proposition
- Establish collaborative relationships with various internal stakeholders including - Investment, Compliance, Global and Regional Product Marketing, Marketing Delivery, Product Development etc. to ensure marketing content and materials are delivered in a smooth and timely manner
- Partner with Client Reporting team in provision of commentary for different types of regular and ad-hoc reports
- Manage external vendors such as creative agencies and production houses
- Ensure Global Standards, core process and procedures are followed and monitored, and global and local compliance and audit requirements are fully met
- Manage processes to ensure marketing activities are delivered in an accurate and timely fashion
Qualifications
- University graduate
- At least 5 years’ marketing experience in a financial institution, preferably an asset management company with strong presence in the retail investment trust market
- Credible experience delivering type of product marketing materials and content
- Strong understanding of the local regulations, client profiles and competitive landscape
- In-depth knowledge of financial terminology and understanding of asset management concepts and industry
- Excellent communication skills. Native-level Japanese language proficiency and business-level English language proficiency
- Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work with teams of different backgrounds
- Strong project management skills - deadline and detailed-oriented
- Excellent PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills. Experience in digital communications such as website, electronic direct mails a plus.
