  • The Chief Control Office is part of the 1st Line of Defense. It oversees the holistic end-to-end health of the control environment; provides a forward-looking view on risk and controls; drives effective design and implementation of controls; and monitors, advises and challenges control owners on how they are managing their risk. It seeks to apply innovative and forward-thinking solutions to risk management in the first line, helping control owners to proactively manage their risks. The role includes analyzing the performance of the control environment, performing end to end reviews, deep dive thematic reviews to identify weaknesses and designing new or modified controls to remediate these weaknesses.
    What you’ll do:
    Principal Accountabilities:
  • This is a key role within the Shared Services Non-Financial Risk (NFR) & Quality Assurance Utility supporting Business Services across Shared Services. The role holder will support validation of issue and action closures, testing activities that include solutions implemented at the back of internal events. There are over 1.4k HELIOS users in Shared Services and this Central Utility is set up to drive a consistent approach and high-quality data capture in Harmoney/HELIOS in accordance with the Group Policies.  Review / Challenge issue and Action closures to ensure embedment and sustainability of actions. S/he will also be responsible to act as a CCO point of contact for Shared Services to provide advisory. 
  • Guide the respective GB/GFs to a more proactive risk management culture through regular engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Support through testing activities and support in the embedment of sustainable fixes seeking to simplify, clarify and add value to the business.
  • The job holder is required to co-ordinate NFR / HELIOS activities within Shared Services. S/he is also required to liaise with stakeholders outside Shared Services on matters relating to NFR and Helios.
  • Review and challenge issues and actions inclusive of ensuring realistic issue and action closure dates and ensure timely closure.
  • Perform closure validation of issue and action to ensure there is adequate embedment and sustainability of the actions implemented.
  • Work with risk and control owners and their CCOs in Shared Services to capture timely and accurate data on Helios/Harmony
  • Publish regular MI’s to key stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Consistently display positive leadership behaviors including notification and timely escalation of any concerns.
  • Strong governance to ensure all Helios activities are completed in a timely manner.
  • Supporting, advising and challenging Operations management to ensure that their risks are understood and well controlled. 
  • Provide high level Support in the evolution of the capability and toolset of the Chief Control Office (e.g. develop more insightful forward-looking measures) and support the transformation of CCO Operations through active engagement with Transformation team on automation projects andimplementing cost effective controls to mitigate risk etc.

What you will need to succeed in the role: 

  • Excellent relationship management and negotiation / influencing skills with experience of positive and challenging interactions with senior management.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the Group.  
  • A high degree of initiative is expected to make recommendations as required and to handle the job requirements in an effective manner.
  • Ability to identify, assess and communicate the need for risk management intervention in complex, fast paced environments.
  • High level of drive and self-motivation to ensure delivery of a broad range of outputs simultaneously in a matrix environment.  
  • Proactive and delivery focused to ensure individual and team tasks are completed on time and to the required levels of quality.  
  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively and work with other resource owners to agree timely provision of services
  • Strong Analytical skills to be able to interpret data. Produce simplified and impactful MI in a timely manner.
  • Prior knowledge of Helios / previous experience in Risk Management is desirable. 
  • Continually assess the risks related to the Business Service, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, organization change and the impact of new technology.
