- IRRBB Ops is a specialist functions within Global Treasury, whose primary responsibility it to assess bank's vulnerabilities to interest rate changes through NII, EVE and NTRM metrices and thereby the resilience of the bank through improved risk management. As such, the role holder will operate within one of the most complex Finance and Risk management processes within the bank. IRRBB is a strategic and regulatory priority with ever increasing expectations.
The Opportunity:
Role holder will be required to:
- Delivery of high quality analysis that cut across legal entities and geographies, with accompanying commentaries providing technical and commercial insight
- Provide SME input, when required, in production of IRRBB metrics to support pack preparation.
- Working with Treasury teams to help improve the understanding and management of Treasury exposures
- Working with Treasury teams covering key topics and issues during cross functions, markets treasury, BSM, SLoD, assurance and audit discussions.
- Implement globally efficient processes for both Group and local needs which enables replication of analyses.
- Ensure policy updates are understood and rolled out globally in a consistent way. Feeding back to SLoD, treasury concerns and opinions on proposed updates and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in providing and ensuring ensure clarity and consistency in terms of scope, assumptions and risk management policy for wider team and entity Treasury.
- Effective communication & presentation skills on business and technical level as well as to senior management.
- Display strong technical understanding of (1) financial products specially rates, (2) interest rate environment (3) financial reporting with balance sheet, and (4) Basel III framework.
What you will do:
Impact on the Business/Function
- Liaise with IRRBB team, site treasury and support teams to ensure all relevant inputs are received.
- Interpret requests to provide meaningful analysis & commentary along with presenting relevant packs to facilitate business decision making.
- Identify improvement opportunities and drive scalable changes.
Stakeholders
- Group, Regional & Site Treasury, IRRBB Ops and Project teams.
- Maintain collaborative & professional relationships of mutual trust and respect with stakeholders.
- Ensure reports & analysis are concise and to the point and provide timely response to queries.
- Engage with stakeholders to identify and implement improvements.
- Influence & escalate key issues in an effective way to ensure timely resolution.
- Manage expectation related to ad-hoc deliveries, projects, and improvements.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Supporting key project delivery relating to area of responsibility by effective collaboration across teams.
- Ensure roles & responsibilities are clearly mapped and understood.
- Coaching team to ensure metrics are in line with requirements.
- Cross-training to ensure effective back-ups are in place.
- Communicate effectively with the team members and be a team player.
- Providing best practice guidance and drive efficiency within the team
- Peer reviewing the work of team members.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Ensure RACI is understood and implemented.
- Ensure effective & up-to-date end-to-end process documents in places for change and improvements.
- Identify gaps within the processes and develop key controls in partnership with site IRRBB, IT and control teams.
- Proactively assess risks, raise MSII’s and resolve the same as per agreed timeline.
- Effective co-operation with SLoD, internal & external audit and ensure to achieve a satisfactory Audit report.
Compliance Policy / FIM requirements
- Adhere to internal controls including but not limited to Declaration of secrecy, data protection act, health, safety and security, clear desk policy, Group compliance policy (‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules, and codes with which the business must comply).
What you will need to succeed in the role:
- Postgraduate/graduate with 5+ years of experience preferably in treasury / regulatory / finance area.
- IRRBB, Treasury, Regulatory / Financial Reporting, Global Markets background is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, eye for detail, critical thinking skills, and experience in managing large volumes of data with an ability to create data-driven story.
- Strong presentation & communication skills along with the ability to liaise with stakeholders across levels & teams.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office suite related products i.e., Excel, Word, Power Point.
- Knowledge of SQL database and QRM application is a significant plus.
- Proven experience of delivering automation, process improvement and supporting project delivery
- Ability to multi-task and work with tight deadlines.
