Background

CIB Banking COO Asia & ME (AME) acts as the Corporate and Institution Banking (CIB) Banking lead incorporating operations, transformation and risk oversight ensuring performance optimization.  The Business Director will work closely with the Head of International Markets, Head of Credit & Capital Management and the Head of Global Corporates, HK.   This role will also support the CIB Banking COO by providing thought leadership around the strategic direction setting and execution of CIB Banking in AME.

The Business Director will support above mentioned teams on (i) strategic initiatives  (ii) management planning (iii) business development opportunities and (iv) business management support across multiple management team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategy, business development support and guidance proactively to management team
  • Drive data-driven decision making by leveraging analytics and reporting tools to provide insight into business performance
  • Investigate and seek remedies for issues which may be adversely affecting business performance in a timely manner
  • Develop strategic reviews and quarterly business updates to facilitate strategic planning of the International Markets, CCM and HK teams
  • Work closely with key stakeholder to support the ongoing management and assessment of scorecard metrics, performance monitoring agreed KPIs for Management teams
  • Work closely with Product colleagues (IB, MSS, GTS, GPS and IWPB) to identify and leverage opportunities for clients across multiple markets
  • Working in collaboration with HR, develop and execute the CIB Banking AME Employee Value Proposition
  • Ad hoc CIB Banking related queries / projects / issues resolution

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Build close working relationships across management teams, business heads across markets, product lines, and the wider markets and business heads 
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and skilled negotiation ability that can scale all levels of the organisation including GEC/board-level executives.  Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and business acumen to directly engage and negotiate consensus directly with business, product, and Global Function.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and management skills with experience in establishing and managing a wide range of projects a matrix of different cultures and organisational constructs
  • Promotor of challenging the status quo, seeking to improve ways of working and having a forward-thinking mind-set, in line with the Group’s values and strategy.

Requisitos

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of HSBC Group structures, values, behaviours, processes, and objectives.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of external environment within country (regulatory, political, economic and market).
  • Extensive front line banking experience in CIB working with clients and also managing complex senior stakeholder relationships
  • Outstanding relationship management, interpersonal, communication skills; the ability to negotiate and influence across networks of matrixed stakeholders.
  • Well established understanding of external the financial services landscape, and competitors.
  • Practical experience in managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in simple language both verbally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous environment, whilst setting and managing realistic expectations and staying true to the values and strategy of the Group.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technology development and infrastructure and how this can be used to meet business needs.
  • Outstanding prioritisation and control skills, with ability to critically review and acknowledge when and how to reprioritise, mitigate, or escalate.
  • Extensive organisational and planning skills to cope with multiple large-scale responsibilities.
  • Evidence of effective execution of goals and delivery of clear results.
  • Strong financial and accounting acumen; and experience working across cultures.
  • Exceptional powerpoint and excel skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with peers, senior stakeholders, direct/indirect reports
