The CEO Asset Management Americas and Head of Americas Sales is responsible for oversight of the Asset Management business in the US, Mexico and Bermuda (including sales) and has direct responsibility and leadership of Americas Sales.
Implement the Asset Management Group’s (AMG) business strategy and operating objectives; ensuring that the operations of the company are both effective and efficient. This includes meeting Group’s requirements and adherence to the Group’s regulatory standards, the appropriate deployment of resources, the attainment of agreed operating plan objectives and the day-to-day management of the business.
The role holder reports into Asset Management’s CEO Europe and Americas on a functional basis.
As our CEO AM Americas and Head of Americas Sales you will:
- Represent HSBC Asset Management in dealing with regulatory authorities; build and maintain effective relationships with regulatory authorities, keep abreast of market developments and understand its implications on the business
- Drive the AM global strategy across the Americas and its execution in order to meet/exceed agreed objectives; ensure compliance with AM’s policies, control procedures, regulatory standards and requirements
- Represent the AM business at conferences and through trade bodies in furtherance of developing new business relationships and opportunities; coaching and nurturing talent to successfully expand the business activity in the Americas
- Ensure all support functions (Operations, Risk Management, HR, IT, Compliance, Finance etc.) are in place to support business strategy and objectives as well as regulatory requirements and ensure that all sales and client management processes are of the highest quality and in line with AM’s risk framework
- Lead the business in the US, Mexico and Bermuda, ensuring the team is adequately staffed in line with opportunities and establish annual goals and objectives for the team and agree in measurable performance criteria
- Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations. Responsible for managing all issues related to staffing, performance management, compensation, and career development
- Transformation of the business to meet evolving client needs in the context of an industry not used to change and managing the prioritisation of competing demands from different stakeholders (Group, investments, capability businesses, operations, marketing, regulatory change etc.) with limited resources whilst delivering in line with AMG strategy
- Understand the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles, HSBC Global Asset Management’s TCF philosophy and how this affects your role; maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $350,000.00 and $400,000.00
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You'll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- Advanced degree, preferably in Finance, Business Management (MBA) or equivalent is preferred
- At least 15 to 18 years of proven experience in Asset Management, financial services or capital markets with at least 8 to 10 years in a leadership role
- Significant executive management experience across strategic planning, team-building, business development, financial and risk management
- Deep knowledge of the asset management investment capabilities, products, industry trends and understanding of the Americas’ regulatory environment
- Competitor knowledge, including strengths and weaknesses and product range
- Have the ability and willingness to innovate and think outside the box
- Leadership and business management skills, strategic thinking abilities, communication, influencing and collaborative skill
- Able to achieve results within HSBC's matrix environment, with strong communication skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to execute against AM’s strategy
