The Opportunity:

Background / Role of the team

  • The role of sits within the Data Operations sits within Data and Regulatory Reporting division of MSS Operations.

  • It is a globally aligned, cross asset operational structure positioned equidistant from the Front Office, Operations, Finance and Risk. Within the portfolio, Consumer Delivery supports the producers of the following domains - 

  • Instrument, Ratings and Calendar Data

  • Pricing Data

  • Accounts and SSI Data

  • Client Contracts

  • EOD Derived prices

  • Books and Book Hierarchies

  • and the associated consumers / consuming systems across the Business.

  • Consumer Delivery is a global team within Data Ops that sits across all of the above domains. It works closely with the consumers of our data to ensure our service is fit for Business purpose and meeting with our strategic objectives.

What you’ll do:

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with the Front Office, Finance, Operations, Risk, Technology, and Architecture teams to support the Data Domain and Data Engineering leads in delivering cross functional solutions within the trusted source

  • Continually review and enhance the data quality controls, improve operational efficiency by reducing manual processes and ensure that the domain is compliant with new data policies and regulatory requirements

  • Support the delivery of projects and other strategic business outcomes

  • Provide guidance and oversight to the Operational Hub team in India to prioritise competing objectives, enhance their subject matter expertise and deliver on Data Domain strategy

Objectives

The key aspects of the role are as follows -

  • Support Regional and Global head of Consumer Delivery Markets in managing consumer relationships with Global Markets & Europe including attendance at governance meetings, meeting with external clients as required, providing insightful metrics re quality and performance of service, handling escalation of issues and evidencing management of consumer risk.

  • Support Regional Head of Consumer Delivery in proactive capture of client/ consumer motivations, industry observations and regulatory developments

  • Work with the Data Domain as the ‘voice of the Consumer’ overseeing and directing quality of service expectations

  • Correctly articulate the consumer ask into tangible measurable Data Domain objectives

  • Develop performance measurements through comprehensive KPI and descriptive context providing KRI. Set standards to meet consumer quality targets which are properly and consistently defined, agreed and executed.

  • Through continuous improvement proactively direct the Data Domains to reduce errors, issues and complaints

  • Influence consumers to trusted source adoption and support implementation journey

  • Attend or chair consumer/client meetings and review meetings as required. Host client visits in Data Domain due diligence, setting the agenda and ensuring positive outcomes

  • Support in implementation of the CIB Organisational structure to ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities through the organisation and effective delivery of SLAs, Consumer and End Customer value and mobilise and deliver on strategy

  • Support in enhancing Trusted Source API to reduce infra costs, enable faster adoption and support delivery of market data cost reduction targets

  • Support Trusted Source adoptions/ Instrument Integration

  • Support Regulatory and Client Driven Change. Key data operations programmes and other strategic initiatives

  • Support the Delivery of CTA and CTB funded Projects and other strategic deliverables

  • Develop collaborative and effective partnerships with key consumers to move towards a Consumer Lead service and to ensure that Data Ops driven change is supported and prioritised.

Observation of Internal Controls:

  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Skills /Experience

  • 10+ years industry experience in a Global Trading environment dealing with cross asset regulatory issues from Front office through middle and back office.

  • An individual who can work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to drive project and business initiatives and manage competing deliverables

  • Data driven role, so the candidate should have experience in Reference Data management, data improvements and data quality controls

  • Experience in driving complex and large data / strategic initiatives through to delivery

  • Knowledge of Markets & Securities Services Front-to-Back business processes and how data is used within the business with a strong desire and ability to learn quickly

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and spoken) – comfortable with detail, and talking at senior levels

  • Strong critical thinking skills with a proactive and constructive attitude. Doesn’t hesitate to challenge the status quo

  • Ability to identify and mitigate data risks with the ability to understand materiality of data risks and prioritise / differentiate response accordingly.

  • Proven track record of taking ownership and responsibility for work and be comfortable working independently

  • A good working knowledge of operational processing across a range of regulatory asset classes

  • A highly developed understanding of the services offered by data service providers in the MSS OPS space (i.e. Refinitiv, IHS Markit, Bloomberg, Golden Source, AC Alveo).

  • Influence and driving the right solutions and approach for our consumers.

  • Collaboration and obtaining feedback from consumers to understand user needs and wants to drive solutions that deliver value.

  • Working with the change community to support the transformation of ways of working. This includes tooling, coaches and implementing measures to track improvements delivered.

  • Demonstrate a commercial mind-set when proposing/deciding on strategy.

  • Leverage network to influence change, achieve globally aligned processes, systems and communication.

  • Highly skilled in use of MS Office tools, particularly MS-Excel, Word and Powerpoint, plus relevant project reporting and management tools (Clarity and MS-Project, Jira, Confluence, Sharepoint)

  • Skilled in negotiating with stakeholders and subject matter experts to balance the need to deliver change rapidly with the need to deliver change in a governed manner in line with HSBC policy.

  • A can-do attitude; self-motivated, enthusiastic and proven fast learner

  • Structured approach able to efficiently manage multiple tasks

  • Takes ownership of tasks assigned to ultimate resolution

  • Strong team player, working in collaboration with stakeholders across HSBC
