What you will do: 

The Country Head of GNB leads all GNB activities, while remaining active in the market through managing own portfolio of clients. Furthermore, responsible for providing both strategic and day-to-day guidance to all aspects of inbound activities to meet customer needs and provide a superior customer experience to be delivered by professionally trained people and market leading products and services. Country Head of GNB promotes Europe, brings HBCE colleagues together to jointly drive the delivery of our clear ambition; through support to GRMs and clients to navigate Europe effectively; with the respecitve team getting the deals done and deliver the service level as expected.


In this role you will:

  • Implement the regional strategy for GNB locally to drive revenue growth, maintain healthy profitability levels, manage the cost base (indirect & direct) and build a sustainable business model.
  • Not only manage a team of Relationship managers but also have the opportunity to manage own portfolio of clients.
  • Ensure effective utilization of the balance sheet through monitoring risk-weighted assets (RWA) and deployment of appropriate risk management tools to price appropriately for risk and to selectively acquire assets and monitor impairment charges and leading loss indicators and ensure that lending falls within the firm’s credit & risk appetite.
  • Maintain group credit standards, uphold portfolio quality, maintain high level of compliance and minimize operational, credit and internet banking risks.
  • Achieve/exceed revenue targets, deepen customer relationships/connect customers to opportunities through championing business co-operation across coverage and product teams.
  • Establish close cooperation with GRBs/GRMs to drive corridor connectivity, promote European offering and drive revenue growth
  • Build a strong local compliance culture and sustainable capability to manage financial crime risk, setting the tone from the top and driving behavioural change across all CIB employees to build a safer and stronger HSBC.
  • Develop a consistent and effective acquisition and retention strategy to increase HSBC’s market share in GNB segments.
  • Drive the strategy for delivery of class-leading customer experience by cultivating a consistent client relationship management culture.
  • Establish metrics and ensure effective tracking of HSBC’s competitor offerings and performance versus HSBC.
  • Broaden and deepen customer relationships and diversify GNB revenue streams through an increased understanding of customer needs and collaboration with product partners to facilitate the cross-sales of GTS, GPS, Market products.

You should apply if you have: 


  • Extended experience in banking including dealing with international / corporate clients
  • Proven experience managing a team of Corporate Banking Relationship Managers
  • Experience in corporate lending, credit structures, risk assessment, cash and payment solutions and trade finance
  • Experience and track record in deepening client relationships and driving engagement with c-suite management
  • Ability to implement strategies, originate business and deliver effective client solutions across financing, Markets and flow products 
  • Understanding of KYC, Financial Crime, Risk management framework
  • Capacity to think about the wider HSBC Group business – to take a Global view.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
