Financial Crime Compliance is a global function that brings together all aspects of regulatory conduct and financial crime compliance. Acting as risk stewards, and supported by a range of specialist teams, we work together with the business and leverage advanced technology to help HSBC navigate a complex regulatory landscape and embed a sustainable approach to compliance risk management that supports safe growth. The role supports the country level Compliance teams within Europe in Financial Crime Compliance area enabling the business to deliver sustainable growth by supporting the embedding of a robust risk management culture in HSBCs business processes to ensure that the business complies with the letter and spirit of relevant regulations, thereby delivering fair outcomes for customers. The team will have a broad remit, which will include, but is not limited to Compliance advice and oversight, support for regulatory engagement as required, conflict management, initiative delivery & tracking and general compliance issues

What you’ll do
    • Develop and produce comprehensive MI, and critically review this, in order to create meaningful assessments of team performance in order to provide comfort to Compliance and LoB teams in Regional and Country teams.
    • Support the team head to improve and maintain day to day to running of the compliance CoE team and to ensure the efficient decisioning and execution of tasks, identifying process improvements and best practise.
    • Support and encourage constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management in action.
    • To share insights on repeatable business queries and escalate complex queries in a timely and seamless manner.
    • Ensure individual compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations, procedures that apply to the conduct of Compliance.
    • Be able to work within multiple control environments.
    • Assist the business with the preparation of manuals and procedures (regulatory conduct and fiancial crime compliance input only) as required.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Degree or equivalent professional qualifitaction in law, economics, accountancy or similar field.
    • Working experience as a compliance officer.
    • Working in a major financial institution, within a matrix environment, including reporting internationally.
    • High level of professional and personal integrity.
    • Proficiency in English language (written/spoken/formal).
    • Other European languages are a plus, e.g. French, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Czech, Dutch.
    • Understanding of the purpose, value, culture and fundamentals of the Compliance function.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities is essential.
