The Tax Reporting Team is responsible for making/checking client Tax Reports. These reports are used by clients to determine tax liabilities across multiple international jurisdictions. The reports must be of the highest accuracy to allow the clients to rely on them to submit their tax returns. The individual must have relevant working experience of international tax and experience in Investment products and how these affect client taxes. The Opportunity:

The role holder will be responsible to establish a robust operational, financial and risk management infrastructure which will enable the Global Private Banking business to implement and expand its offshore operation quickly and effectively. To develop and lead a team to deliver excellent customer service, manage risk and controls whilst ensuring the cost effectiveness of the GSC operation. The job holder will recruit, develop and lead a management team in setting the culture / creating the environment in which to achieve maximum operational efficiency through the implementation of excellent production and quality management techniques.

The role primarily surrounds ensuring that tax reports solutions sent out to clients are accurate and provided to final clients in a timely manner. Being at the end of the operational chain, the tax reporting activity monitoring is a privileged way to detect any upstream issues, discrepancies within operations/core systems. In this scope the role also covers the coordination/management of issues fixing to enhance reporting accuracy overall. Due to the complexity of systems architecture in place, any decision of change, fixing, improvement must be submitted to the service manager before action.


What you’ll do:

  • Maintain and improve the delivery of a high quality, risk aware and control focused operation.
  • Ensure that the processing teams meet all key performance indicators and key risk indicators as defined in the Performance Level Agreements. Demonstrate improvements year-on-year in said indicators
  • Manage operational contingency requirements on an ongoing basis by keeping the contingency requirements continually updated in terms of strategic changes on account of migration growth plans in conjunction with core BCP team.
  • Practical approach to problem solving. Demonstrate an understanding of FIM requirements, local business procedures and Audit recommendations.
  • Ensure team MI maintained & completed daily
  • Carry out primary level of investigation for any errors, complaints, or ops losses
  • Conduct user acceptance test before launch of new products/systems or strategic initiatives

  • Build and maintain good working relationships with Group business and operational units to ensure that the GSC delivers a high standard of customer service.
  • Ensure that training plans and personal development plans for all staff are developed and implemented.
  • By managing, setting objectives, developing and motivating the management team and ensuring people management techniques are effectively employed for all staff within the GSC.
  • Provide efficient and timely support to RM's for raised issues/requests.
  • Ability to anticipate RM's requirements/new clients’ needs.
  • Support RM/CSHD queries and be responsible for taking specific action in order to answer queries in a timely manner. Provide efficient and timely support to RM's for raised issues/requests.

  • By monitoring and analyzing KPIs and KRIs to ensure business correctly supported
  • Directing the recruitment, retention and development of staff.
  • Maintain cost center accountability by monitoring expenditure against department budgets and ensure additional expenditure approval is sought with a fully documented business case.
  • Assists in the implementation of the Group compliance policy locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Global Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer ensuring adequate compliance resources and training, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators; Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators; Awareness of Operational Risk associated with the role

What you will need to succeed in the role:
  • 5-6 years of experience in a middle management role with at least 2-3 years of experience in managing asset servicing and tax reporting
  • Experience in and understanding of the background behind tax reporting figures/detected issues
  • Ability to interact and manage multi-cultural teams and stakeholders
  • Operational Risk Management Experience
  • Strong Relationship Management
  • Demonstrable change and re-engineering delivery


What additional skills will be good to have?
  • Knowledge of VBA is an advantage
