Underwriting Services (UWS) is the sub function within WPB Credit Control Services that undertakes all credit related processing for Retail Banking customers; this covers all activities within credit risk from the point of initial customer evaluation up to the point of delinquency or closure. Some of the activities undertaken in Under Writing Services can be classified broadly into (i) Verification (ii) Account Management (iii) Underwriting.


The Opportunity:

The Credit Manager has primary responsibility for the efficient processing and servicing of Unsecured and Secured Applications.


What you’ll do:
  • To initiate and plan high quality service ensuring that risk is minimized and work output maximized through effective management of resources• Meet productivity and accuracy targets stipulated in the service standards.
  • To initiate and plan high quality service ensuring that risk is minimized and work output maximized through effective management of resources.
  • Accurate and timely processing of applications ensuring underwriting decisions and verification meets with policy standards
  • Quality service delivery for incoming and outgoing customer calls. Audits and measures are regularly conducted to maintain quality and productivity at optimum levels without additional risk
  • Establish and maintain compliance measures, processes and procedures that ensure all compliance obligations relating to the Cards & Retail Alliances Business Unit are observed efficiently, honestly and fairly, and that all staff are aware of their obligations
  • Effectively create and manage a high performance team through developing, supporting, recognizing and rewarding individual and team performance
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance processes, service proposition and profitability. Ensure effective systems, procedures and control infrastructure is in place to support operational service delivery.

What you will need to succeed in the role:
  • Experience in customer contact operational business, and/or related management experience with proven and progressive customer service experience or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required
  • Proven leadership, motivational, analytical, planning communications, organizational, problem-solving, managerial, project management and customer service skills
  • Drive a positive culture able to deal with change and supporting the group values
  • Thorough understanding of the underwriting concept and its importance in maintaining and expanding account relationships


What additional skills will be good to have?
  •  12 month experience in a People Manager role with credit experience
