The Treasury Risk Management (TRM) second line of defence team provides independent oversight and challenge of balance sheet risk for the HSBC Group. The team provides subject matter expert oversight over Treasury activities specific to Capital, Stress Testing, Recovery and Resolution and Financial planning in the form of strategy, policies and analysis to support effective risk management. This includes collaborative and critical thinking with Treasury and Global businesses (the First Line of Defence) to ensure early identification and remediation of emerging risks.
We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as manager within the Treasury Risk Management (TRM) Recovery and Resolution Planning, Stress Testing and Climate Risk team. This role requires an understanding of best practice and regulatory expectations of a firms planning for Recovery and Resolution, Stress Testing and Climate Risk (as pertaining to Treasury) processes.
What you’ll do
- Participate in the development and maintenance of the Group Recovery Plan (GRP) and the Group Resolvability Assessment Framework (RAF) Self–Assessment for submission to regulators.
- Review, challenge and provide stewardship on the risk elements of the Group submissions and the capabilities maintained within businesses, functions and legal entities to support Group submissions.
- Engage with stakeholders globally to ensure delivery of RRP, Stress Testing and Treasury aspects of Climate Risk activities within regulatory and internally mandated timelines, ensuring consistency in approach across regions where regulations permit.
- Support the bank’s preparedness to respond to a stress scenario, deterioration into a recovery phase or into resolution.
- Represent Treasury Risk Management in RRP, Stress Testing and of Climate Risk Change programmes, identifying Risks as well as assisting in providing solutions to reduce these inherent Risk.
- Providing constructive challenge to proposed approaches or solutions provided by Risk owners, mindful of the synergies to existing processes and specificities of global balance sheets to ensure efficient and effective solutions are obtained.
- Ensure that there is clear monitoring and tracking of issues relating to RRP, Stress Testing and of Climate risks, not only managing issues raised as part of this role against the first line of defence, but also including audit issues, entity level controls, MSIIs and any other relevant control areas.
- Maintain an active and open dialogue and partner with various Risk Stewards, CROs, CFOs, functions, through periodic and ad-hoc updates.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Typically, qualifications would include an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in a relevant numerate subject. Qualifications in accounting and/or finance is beneficial.
- Practical experience of risk management within a large organization.
- Knowledge of Recovery and Resolution, Stress Testing and Climate related regulation.
- Demonstrable experience of leading with unwavering and courageous integrity to do the right thing.
- Experience of working across all levels of an organisation to understand cross-functional linkages and interdependencies, as well as the implications of risk at both a strategic level and at the business unit level, with good understanding of other areas e.g. Finance, Accounting, Operational, Legal, etc.
- A high level of professionalism and competency which helps to determine solutions around appropriate risk measures, risk processes, risk monitoring and management.
- Experience in addressing regulatory and audit requests.
- Understanding of the strategies of the Group and demonstrate deep business knowledge.
- Ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the most senior level in the organisation.
- Communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management in the language of business.
What we offer
The pay range for this role is 21 142 PLN - 31 708 PLN (monthly, gross).
Additional car allowance in the amount of 4786 PLN (monthly, gross).
Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
