Global regulators have an increasing expectation that firms have adequate systems and controls to conduct surveillance against, among others, market abuse offences such as Insider Dealing, Market Manipulation and Dissemination.

Offshore Surveillance teams support compliance officers across all business lines in carrying out key compliance monitoring, surveillance and support activities. The team (E/Voice-Communications Surveillance) will support onshore Compliance offices and the various businesses Globally. The purpose is to undertake surveillance in a timely manner thus ensuring compliance (market abuse, breach of internal policies, suitability, best execution, etc.) with applicable regulations and policies. Overall, the incumbent will provide guidance / supervision and accountability for the day-to-day offshore activities.

What you’ll do
    • Review audio and electronic communications alerts to detect potential cases of market abuse, market manipulation or potential breaches of any internal HSBC policies.
    • Investigate and escalate potential issues, justify your findings and document the resolution.
    • Work with colleagues in Krakow and other compliance teams in order to contribute to global improvements in surveillance.
    • Continuously expand your knowledge in the dynamic field of financial market, financial instruments and the related market abuse risks in order to increase the effectiveness of controls.
    • Provide guidance and advise more junior analysts on the review methodology.
    • Contribute to the managerial tasks (MI preparation, hosting relationship management meetings with the Business Partners, attending job interviews).
    • Support the administrative processes (raising access requests, planning guest visits, keeping track of technical challenges and reporting them).

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • University degree, specialization in Finance, Economics or a related field would be an asset.
    • Experience in the financial sector or compliance and understanding of financial products traded on the capital market. Familiarity with financial regulations would be an asset.
    • Proficiency in English as well as other European language(s).
    • Self-motivated with rapid learning capability.
    • Good organizational and analytical skills, integrity, as well as strong attention to details.
    • Ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and in a clear manner.
    • Ability to work independently and be part of a team.
